Lucy designs bags for charity

Asian-American actress Lucy Liu has designed a new limited edition snakeskin-trimmed metalic leather handbag for Tod’s to benefit UNICEF.

“[Tod’s] approached me about doing this after they came to an art show I did about a month ago [for] UNICEF, because they wanted to work with a charity, so it was perfect,” said Liu who is also UNICEF’s 2006 Ambassador.

“They let us do whatever we wanted, and I think it came out great!” she added, swinging the bag for emphasis as photographers documented her every move. “We picked out the colors – they’re [muted] for fall and metallic – and the strap goes in so it can be used as an evening clutch.”

Clearly Liu had a hit on her hands: Nine of the 15 bags on display were sold during the two-hour unveiling event on Oct 17.
