Viva Woman

This is the image on the cover of Yumiko Cheng’s latest album.  Apparently, Stephanie Cheng, another Cantopop singer who also released a new album about the same time, was also seen in a back revealing white dress for her cover.

So what’s this image of a sexy back doing on a song album?  Has it got anything to do with the songs in there?   

The answer is most probably a no, but the fact remains that many female artistes all over are using sexy images to market their albums, because of the belief that women’s bodies can practically sell everything.  And in case you’re wondering, it was the producer, a man, who convince Yumiko to attempt the daring shoot.

Yumiko (鄭希怡) is a popular Hong Kong Cantopop singer born in Shanghai.   She was given the Japanese name “Yumiko” by her record company as part of their promotion strategy and is famous for her sexy yet innocent style and deep, husky voice.  She has also been voted as the sex icon and dream lover of the new generation in various polls.

I haven’t heard Yumiko’s songs and cannot say for sure if she’s good.  However, these pictures really caught my eye and I would have to concur that they are very tastefully done.  Nothing raunchy.  It reminded me a little of Japanese singer hitomi, who struck a naked back pose for one of her earlier albums.

I am unlikely to buy the album because I don’t listen to Cantopop anymore.  But I can’t say for sure about the others.  Most likely, the guys who have voted her as their sex icon and dream lover will kill to get their hands on this.
