My hand cream obsession
Monday, 11 December 2006I’m a bit of a hand cream addict. I can’t get enough of them. It really started because one of my ex-bosses said he can judge a woman’s age just by looking at her pair of hands. That remark got me sitting up and taking note of the condition of my hands.
So let’s see the number of hand creams I currently have. I have three by my bedside. One in my vanity tray. One on my working desk. One each in a few bags. Ranging from brands like Dove, Nivea, Sally Hansen, Biotherm, Neutrogena, Crabtree and Evelyn, Elizabeth Arden, Body Shop, Marks and Spencer to Skinfood. And still, I must buy more.
These are my loot over three days last week.
The first is Mavala Hand Cream which I’ve used before and quite like it. It’s enriched with moisturising marine collagen, vegetable oils and allantoin to smooth dry skin and prevent chapping and redness. The formula is light, non-sticky, non-oily with a pleasant smell and the 50ml is going for S$14.50 at Mavala counters.
Next is butyshop Hand Treatment Cream with ingredients like vitamin E, jojoba oil
and colx seed extract. I actually love this because it felt so good on my hands and the peach smell is fantastic! In fact, I was a little annoyed because I had just bought the Mavala hand cream. After some hesitation, I bought it anyway because they offered me a good 30% discount from the original price of S$15. At 40ml, I can fit this into one of my small purses perfectly!
And two days later, I bought Jurlique Rose Hand Care Cream at Tangs. Now, this is a product I wanted to buy for the longest time and finally remembered to do so. It is in fact the star product of Jurlique, which is a certified organic skincare range from Australia. A beautifully rich, non-greasy, delicately cream to moisturise and help protect even the driest of hands. I chose the rose scent over the lavender one and lucky me got the 40ml version for S$30 because there was an offer.
Another hand cream I tried but didn’t buy was the StriVectin-HC. It was very rich no doubt but I dislike the smell. Moreover the price, S$82 but discounted to S$65, was too steep and totally out of my budget. I would be happy to buy a couple of Jurlique’s or butyshop’s for that sum.
Well, hand creams are definitely an essential for me. I don’t want to have a pair of hands that make me look way older for sure! And in fact, I already have in mind which hand cream to buy next. The Rich Girl Therapeutic Hand and Cuticle Cream with SPF25!
