Prada to launch designer handphone
Sunday, 17 December 2006
I am not one who have ever given Korean branded handphones a second look but still, I got a bit excited with this piece of news that LG and Prada have announced that they are working together to develop a co-branded handset to be launched in early 2007. And what’s interesting to know is that the LG/Prada phone is said to have a touch-screen interface with no keys.
Leveraging on their respective expertise and know-how, Prada and LG have jointly explored and developed all aspects of this new product. The collaboration focused on the key elements inside the phone, such as software, user interface and music as well as its look, for example design and packaging.
The result is a unique, sophisticated and elegant phone, with an advanced touch interface which eliminates the conventional keypad.
The handset will see distribution across Europe starting with Italy, the United Kingdom, France, and Germany, with Asian countries like Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Singapore following later. A Korean version of the handset is also scheduled to launch in the second quarter of 2007.
Since it’s Prada we’re talking about, it should be worthy of at least keeping a lookout. I’m also curious as to how the design would make a fashion statement with “it’s very strong character and unique style.”
