The packaging for this lip balm reads really impressive.
- Citrus flavour with pure Vitamin C
- Vitamin E
- SPF 26 PA+++ UVA/UVB
- Dermatologist-tested.
And at S$6.90 for a 4.5g, why not?
So I gave it a try and got a nasty surprise. How can they say that this lip balm is citrus flavour? I can’t for the life of me make out the flavour but it is salty (yes salty) to the tastebud and smells funny. Not exactly awful, but it isn’t pleasant either. In fact, after my first trial, I threw it in my drawer and refused to touch it for days.
To be fair however, once I got over the initial funny taste and smell part, I have to admit that the quality of the lip balm isn’t poor. It does moisturize as it claims and yet, doesn’t feel too heavy on my lips. Moreoever, this is one of the few lip balms with such a strong SPF. I suspect that the salty taste and funny smell could have come from the SPF ingredients.
This is clearly a lip balm to use for a real hot day or when you’re at the beach. With that sort of taste and smell, I really wouldn’t use it daily. Especially not when I have so many other choices of lip balms with SPF protection and yet don’t taste or smell weird.

Yep, ZA Vitamin Lip is sour (Vitamin C?) as well as salty. I don’t mind the smell but…. Sigh…(><)
