It instantly hardens your nails and gets rid of any split looking nails...not quite sure how it works but it does. the packaging also says to use only 1 or 2 times a week on the nail tips only. Also the nail hardener will not work on fake nails as it has to absorb into your real nails to work. the "large" 5ml bottle seems small but should last you at least 6 months (lasts me almost 1 year). I actually prefer the Mavala top coat over the Sally Hansen. I tried the Sally Hansen one and it ruined my nail polish. I had used Mavala nail polish and let that dry, applied Sally Hansen top coat and it ruined the shine of my nail polish- they looked so dull compared the the usual Mavala high shine. -and no, I do not work for Mavala, just a big fan of their products, been using then at least 10 years! I would also reccomend the Mavala scientifique nail hardener.
