Despite the face primers and make up bases that I already have, I still couldn’t resist getting this Sana Pore Putty Make Up Base with SPF17 PA++ at Nishino in Mediya. It’s Japanese for one and the other is that it promises to give me poreless skin with even skin complexion, covering up blackheads, spots and discolouration.
Okay, the truth was I didn’t really expect it to do that much. I’ve used many products to be able to tell the marketing fluffs. But still, at S$16.90, I didn’t mind giving this product a try. If it works, great for me. If not, well, not a big lost.
And what’s my verdict?
While it does cover up my blackheads and the open pores around my nose, it certainly does not conceal skin discolorations or dark spots. I’ll still need a concealer to work on covering those up. Moreover, I need to use a sponge to apply, which is troublesome to me compared to to other bases and primers which I can blend just with my fingers.
But it’s quite a good make up base in terms of the texture and colour. It’s yellowish so it blends right into the skin without changing the facial tone or making it look unnatural. It doesn’t cake the power up so that’s good. In fact, after a coat of this make up base and my powder, my face actually appears whiter and smoother with a matt feel. And my T-zone didn’t secrete that much sebum even after a couple of hours with this one.
So if you’re looking for an affordable make up base, you might want to consider this product. The UV protection is also a major plus point.

After using it for 4 days, I got extreme dermatitis, gotta go to 2 doctors for steroids.
After 1 month now, still on antibiotics.
The area that got dermatitis, now is a patch if pigmentation. Like… age spot!
vuvie: Extreme dermatitis? Whoa, that’s no good. You’re probably allergic to some substances in there.
i just got into the whole use the primer and make up thing but i do have a few qns to clear up? wats the dif between primer and make up base? and which one are the best that u hv used. tried mac primer once – didnt care much for it. it has this weird fishy smell to it. thanks for replying by de way
Haven: Actually it depends on the products. For primers, they’re supposed to fill up the gaps in the pores to make the skin even. Some makeup base work well as a primer with the silicones too. I haven’t tried many primers to comment on what is best but I’ll point you to an excellent article at Makeup Stash about it. Read it here.
