We sometimes joke that a woman is menopausal when we find her cranky. But in reality, menopause is no joking matter. Usually occurring at around *GASP* 40 years of age, it is, quite literally, the cessation of ovulation.
According to website Menopause A to Z, common menopause symptoms include hot flushes, sweating at night, vaginal dryness, mood swings, decline in libido, dry skin, lethargy, joint pains, weight gain, headaches and osteoporosis.
These symptoms can last for varied amounts of time, and staying as emotionally calm as possible can help reduce not only the length, but the severity of any symptoms.
And apparently, being fatter can also make the menopause and its symptoms easier to cope with as these physical symptoms of menopause are mainly caused by the lower amount of oestrogen in the body, and oestrogen is also produced in fatty cells.
What great news!
In order to help the adrenal glands and fatty cells with the production of the necessary hormones to alleviate my soon-to-come menopause symptoms, I actually need to be fatter. Well, well. I now officially have a reason to put on more weight!
