Benefit Cosmetics: cheaper online?

Thursday, 28 June 2007

You may have read that Benefit Cosmetics is already in Singapore, after much delays.  Yes, the famous “fake it” and “fix it” San Franciso-based cosmetics company opens its first counter at Tangs Orchard today, as reported in Urban. But what got my attention was the price.

It was reported that Benetint, which acts as a lip tint and a lip gloss is sold here for S$65.  Now, are we talking about the same size that is available online?  Because if you were to purchase it direct from benefitcosmetics.com, it is only US$28 and even with the exchange rate conversion, it won’t work out to S$65.  And Benefit does provide free shipping above $85 for international customers.  So question is, are we better off purchasing Benefit Cosmetics online?

I certainly hope that it was a printing error on the newspaper or that the information was incomplete.  But we definitely need a price list to compare for sure.  Anyone?

i think the price is not a mistaken one ie $65 at stores, that is why i still turn to online shopping for this brand. I am only crossing my fingers that they would not stop us from ordering online and shipping to Singapore in time to come.

msff: Ya, I was also thinking they might put a stop in time to the online shopping. But that’ll hurt them in the long run though.

OMG! SGD65 can buy a Dandelion and a Benetint online!!! But well, if you can wait, online shopping is always cheaper though there will still be some folks ard who prefer to get it on the spot.

DR: Ya that was what I thought. Such a huge difference. Understandable that prices could be higher with a retail front but that’s too much…not sure if their other stuff also have such huge gaps…

Yes, Sesame . Big difference too between buying here in MY and online.

Doris: So buying online is better for you over there as well…

  4. ParisB Says:

Yep. It definitely looks like its cheaper to buy online. Its a lot more expensive in store here. And with US$85 purchase they ship international for free. So, if you band up with a bunch of people to buy you can actually save money :)

Paris: Ya, me boycotted Benefit online cos annoyed that they denied me the affiliate membership, one day after they granted me. So haven’t got any of their stuff till now. If they’re so ex on the retail front, I guess I’ll just skip. Hey, there are many fishes in the sea right?
