Eyebrow embroidery for Asians

Eyebrows are a major part of being a woman and it’s very important to groom them because it gives you feminine power.  The eyes may be the window to the soul, but the eyebrows are their frame.  As a matter of fact, groomed brows can transform how we look by opening our eyes and lifting up our face.

However, for most Asian women, their eyebrow hairs tend to be coarse and sparse. Therefore, we actually have to do more filling in the gaps with colors.  For many, this is an extremely tedious process especially if we have to do it everyday for the rest of our lives.   Unless of course we find a thrill in scaring the wits out of people.

As such, many Asian women have turned to eyebrow tattoo, using needles to inject color permanently on the skin of the eyebrow. The drawback is it doesn’t look natural and the worst is that the colour will change to green or blue after some time.  And to remove, these women need to get the tattoo lasered off.

What’s great nowadays is that women can turn to eyebrow embroidery or eyebrow feathering instead.  Unlike a tattoo, the colour is only injected onto the top layer of the skin, so the colours won’t change.  The effect isn’t permanent but it can last up to two years and possibly longer with frequent touch ups.

My friend Ashes recently got her eyebrows embroidered.  The whole package cost her S$150 which included the one-time embroidery and a colour touch up after three months.  She said the process, which took about 10 to 15 minutes wasn’t painful but she did feel like she had ants biting at her eyebrows.

I’m keen to see how she looks now but I supposed not too much difference since her friends and colleagues have commented that her new eyebrows look natural.  And the best part for Ashes in her own words is: “Now I don’t have to wake up so early in the morning to draw my eyebrows.  I just need to brush my teeth, bath, wash my face and I am all ready for work!”

Ashes had her eyebrow embroidery done at #1 Salon Hair & Beauty located at Blk 513 #01-516/518 (1st & 2nd floor), Bishan St 13 in Singapore.  Those interested can contact the salon at Tel: 6258 3822 or 6258 8309.

The wait is very long. You wait to get the appointment and once you are there, you wait for your turn. BTW, suggest anyone keen to book Amy. She’s probably the best there.

DR: Yup, Ashes mentioned about the long wait too.

heard about this salon too but I guess I shall stick to my Shu eyebrow pencil meantime otherwise wasted eh! Once I am done with my last stick, I probably will give this a try. $150 is cheap!

msff: It’s supposed to be popular with the celebs as well. But I’m giving it a miss. I don’t think it’ll suit me. As it is, I only use brow powder/eyeshadow. I don’t even like penciling cos it’s so unnatural for me.

i’d done eyebrow embroidery before..abt 3 years ago..was supposed to go back after 3 months to do touch-up but i was too lazy. it was worth every penny i must say..really natural looking and like what ur friend said, don’t need to draw eyebrows anymore!

am thinking of having it done again sometime oson.

Angelia: Wa, how come so lazy…so it must have lasted you shorter than 2 years then?

  4. jenn says:

Hi juz to chk how much u charge for creative eyebrow?

Jenn: This is a beauty blog. I don’t provide the service. You need to check direct with the service provider for the charges.

    Hi everyone,

For those who had done EB before, do your skin experience discolouration after a few years? Once you stop going for touch up will the skin go back to its original colour after a while or there would forever be a patch of different colour? I’m considering doing it but worried that once i start i would have to constantly go for touch up every few years.

Jasmine: I haven’t done it before but have friends who have done it and yes, you have to have your eyebrows touched up constantly every few years.

  8. Janet says:

  10. sesame says:

Hers turned out quite natural…not too bad. But personally, I still prefer natural eyebrows.

  11. Kristle says:

I did my eyebrow embriodery 2 weeks ago under my friend’s recommendation at BIO BEAUTY AROMATIC SPA.

My eyebrows are very well done and looks very natural. I did previously at browhaus but those looked very fake.

This shop is very famous among SIA Stewardess and models. Look for Irene Teo as she is a middle aged lady who has over 30 years of experience and teaches professionally in a beauty school to students as well.

BIO BEAUTY AROMATIC SPA is located at
Blk 73 Toa Payoh Lorong 4
#01-597 which is directly opposite Toa Payoh library macdonalds’!!

  12. Christine says:

I had my eyebrows done by Amy at # 1 Salon in 2000. The following year when I returned (presently residing in the U.S.) I did my eyeliner as well. It has held up pretty well. My last touch up was in 2005 and I plan to see Amy again this December. Well worth every penny…!

I done Creative Eyebrows which looks much more natural than Eyebrow Embriodery at BIO BEAUTY AROMATIC SPA located at Toa Payoh Lor 4 Blk 73 just opposite the Library.

My brows look very natural and it was almost painless after Irene Teo (a middle age lady) applied some anesthetic cream to numb my brows.

I went to this shop after a few of my friends recommended to me as Irene is very famous in the beauty industry with over 30 years of experience. She also teaches beauticians in a beauty school. She is very friendly and patiently explained to me the various types of eyebrow that is suitable for my face shape! I am very impressed as she provides good service in a humble way despite the long list of customers waiting for appointments.

I guess BIO BEAUTY AROMATIC SPA’s excellent service and reasonable price is what wins customers to the shop. I paid about SGD188 for my eyebrows.

Merry Christmas! It’s worth the time and investment to beautify oneself this Xmas ladies ?

  19. Rosie says:

You should try CREATIVE EYEBROWS as it looks super natural compared to Eyebrow Embriodery. The process uses one hair strand by one hair strand so its looks more Natural!

  20. Rosie says:

there is a free ONE TIME TOUCH UP! ?

  21. Rosie says:

    I paid SGD188!

  22. lulu says:

i had my eye brow tattoo years ago and faded, could i do embroidery on top of the tattoo?

  23. sesame says:

    You should seek professional advice.

  24. loulou says:

irene from BIO BEAUTY AROMATIC is not as good. i went there based on recommendation but was very unhappy even after the touch up. she is not helping but rather only selling.
i got her work corrected by another professional.

  25. Lynn says:

Hi, Can anyone please give me some good and honest recommendation for eyebrow embroidery. Have done by quite a few and it has changed colours.
Thanks and hope to find one good one!

  26. Liv says:

My mother has had her eyebrows tattooed for almost 20+ years and they never turned blue or green.. I also know many others who have had eyebrow tattoos and that never happened to them. I think that is a myth.

  27. Sesame says:

I think it depends on the quality of the tattoo. Your mom must had good dye used on her tattoo.

  28. Maggie says:

Hi Loulou, where did you go for correction? I oso had eyeliner done by Irene and was horrible… :((

  29. Kay says:

    Loulou,
I experienced and felt the same way as you did at BIO in Tao Payoh.
I just had mine done Korean 3D eyebrow and eyeliners in Feb 2013 and touch up in March 2013 for both by Irene, I was not happy neither. They are diminishing and I today (March 26th, 2013) have to use eyebrow pencil to fill the missing parts. and the eyeliners are gone, I have to use eyeliner pen again. I paid S$488 for brown and S$250 for eyeliner, total of S$738. It’s not true that after you did it you do not have to waste your time drawing your eyebrow and eyeliner, I still have to spend time doing it. Who ever intend to do it must research harder. One touch up is not enough.
I definitely need mine corrected, could you tell me where did you go and were you happy with the correction?
    Cheers!
    Kay
