BB cream: the new rage in foundation
Friday, 14 September 2007I have always look to Japan for innovative skincare products in this part of the world but it looks like the Koreans have a winner with their BB Cream, short for Blemish Balm Cream which is said to provide excellent coverage as a foundation as well as to regenerate the skin.
It appears that BB Cream was formulated as an after treatment cream for those who underwent laser surgery and soon became popular with the Korean celebrities. This is because this natural care cream for delicate sensitive skin has the ability to cover the irregularities on the skin as well as soften skin texture.
At the moment, the best BB Cream is said to be from Bio Remedies Thrapeutic Cosmetics or BRTC and if you watch their video here, the results on the girls do look amazing after they have applied the cream.
Their skin tone appeared more even with a radiant glow and most of their facial blemishes including their dark undereye circles looked less obvious. Feedback from some users who have used the BB Creams also indicated that they found the product helped to control their excessive facial oil and improved their overall skin texture overtime.
And from what I’ve gathered, the BB Creams do come in different shades and for better skin regeneration, it should be used before applying sunscreen.
Besides BRTC BB Cream, Skin 79 BB Cream has also received excellent reviews and other well known brands like Missha, Skin Food, Etude and The Face Shop have all introduced their own formulation of BB cream. Missha for example has a Missha M B.B Cream which is promoted as a 4 in 1 multifuncational cream to soothe, moisturize, nourish and provide coverage for the skin as it can be used as a makeup base or foundation.
Frankly I hardly give Korean skincare products much attention. But perhaps this is a reason to check out their stores soon.
And if you’re interested to find out various prices of the different brands of BB Creams, check them out online.

In the video, the cream does seem to make their faces look whiter than the colour on their necks. =O
saryn: Yes, from the forums I visited, the girls showed their pics and the results were equally amazing.

Hi.. Now i am in Korea, visiting my Korean friend and she said that BB cream is really good and popular. So i searched on the internet more about BB cream. Thank you for the useful info… and as you said BB cream is very very POPULAR among Korean now.. Some of them even use it instead of foundation… BB cream with SPF is sometimes only one cream they use every morning…. and now the benefits from the state also ve BB cream available ! cheers.
Mei: Great…and since you’re there, you’ll have endless selection! Lucky gal!

does bb cream cover ur blemish or it actually just recover u from all the blemish on ur face
angel: I’ve not tried myself but from the various reviews I’ve read, it helps to cover up blemishes, some with astonishing results. Apparently some also claim that over time, their skin tone actually improved.

I used the BB Cream from Etude House – a brand like Body Shop – and it worked great! I think it actually improved my skin tone..at first i used the BB Cream with concealer and powder – alot of work – but after a month i ended up using just the BB Cream. It was wierd b/c i have some dark spots from acne, but it seemed to just make them disappear. Texture’s nice too.
Alicia: That’s great. I would love to get my hands on one that works for me too!

BTW, in the picture of BB creams above, what’s written is Korean, not Japanese, which means that you don’t know what ’s different between the two letters, maybe you don’t need to, and Korean cosmetics are very good as well.

Oh, I didn’t write your post carefully, you’ve mentioned it there. sorry :

how do i apply BB cream? after toner and lotion? but even then it makes my face really oily. i also have Lancome SPF50+ make-up base. how do i use all that?
zune: You are supposed to apply this after toner, but BB cream can work well as a makeup base so you don’t have to apply your Lancome base otherwise it can be too oily. Also, not forgetting your sunblock or do you use the Lancome makeup base as sunblock?

I have a few questions:
-What does Skin79 means?
-There are many different category in this Korean BB Cream. It hard to buy the correct one. Which one is suitable for oily skin with acne, sensitive skin, and wrinkle?
- Do you know any sites to find a BBcream in US?
Thanks …
Skinproblem: Skin79 is a brand of makeup. If you do a search, I believe you can find some available via ebay. I’m not certain of any websites particularly catering to the US market for this product.

Hi!
Im using skin79 BB CREAM. Do i still need to apply foundation after applying the BB CREAM?
Or the bb cream can already act as my foundation?
So after applying the bb cream i can carry on to the other steps?
I don’t use toner or all the makeup-base etc… as im quite new to this! So please guide!
siewyee: I’ve personally not tried BB cream myself so I can only tell you what I’ve read from others. After you cleanse your face, you should moisturize, apply sunscreen (although if your sunscreen is moisturizing enough you can skip the moisturizer) then you apply on bb cream. The BB cream can act as a makeup base, meaning no need for anymore liquid foundation. Some gals even wear it like that without anything else cos they want the dewy look. But you can still put on a layer of loose powder which may help to control oil secretion if your face is proned to being oily. Experiment and see if this works for you.

Are there BB creams available that are PABA free? I don’t want to put cancer on my face….if you know what I mean..lol. Also, is BB cream a generally a “safe” product to use? I’ve been trying to research the ingredients of different brands, but they’re all in Korean! The Skin Food brand seemed really appealing and got great reviews, but I’m just a little hesitant….
Danielle: From those BB creams I’ve come across, most contain some form of chemical/synthetic ingredients so I can’t tell you if they’re safe or not. There could be some which are PABA free but I’m not sure cos I haven’t seen all their ingredient list. But yes, most BB creams are made in Korea and even I have not used them because I’m not too keen on using too much synthetic stuff on my face.

BB cream is really good… But there are a lot of imitation out there which is from China… skin79’s BB cream selling for $20 to $30.. way to cheap to be real… Know the local distributor for skin79, and confirmed some of the far east plaza and ebayers’ skin79 bb cream are fakes and can cause skin problem… pls be careful
Spencer: Oh I didn’t know they have fake creams! Gosh, gotta be careful! Thanks for highlighting this so that the gals can be aware.

Denise: Yes, I agree. They’re good at making women beautiful. I’ll search out the product you mentioned. Thanks!

i love bb creams. they make my pore look smaller so i look 10 years younger. but my problem is – most BB creams make me look like a ghost. im a typical asian morena skintone.
im currently using legere multi white – but this ones a bit too dark. it melts on my skin alright but it doesnt look natural. after 3 hours, my t-zone is welling. but the purederm i tried a month ago is probably one of the worsts because, from the 1st hour, you have to keep blotting ur face until the cream have been wiped out entirely.
i desperately would like to try a bb cream that looks natural on morena skintone. please help me. halfnaked_88@yahoo.com

BB Cream actually does work x3
I’m Asian, but kind of on the pale side XD
Since I’m a crazy mix, I don’t really have a “yellow skin tone” as people call it. I use Skin79 VIP Gold Collection BB Cream, and it’s awesome <3
And I have sensitive skin, so I have no choice.
Before I found out about it, I used to only use hypo-allegenic eyeliner, and that's it. But BB Cream works wonders
It's a littly pricey, depending on where you live, but it's definitly worth it.

I have personally tried Missha perfect cover #23, Innisfree trouble bb cream, BRTC GOLD CAVIAR, Purederm, Legere Multi-White and Hanskin Magic. Of all mentioned, I’d say the best is Missha #23 for its perfect coverage without making me look like a gay geisha. The rest gave me this grayish tint which is not very natural. U have to mix and match different shades of mineral powder to make it look better. Legere Multi-white wins the 2nd place and Purederm gets the award for The Worst because its too oily and too orange

truthfully Koreans have some gr8 skin products and bb creams around. I’ve started using their products and they work very well. Skinfood and laneige….have some wonderful skin products. Japanese and Korean products are the only that I use out of asian countries when it comes to BB creams, facial creams & I always do reviews…so they have come a long way and are almost up there with japanese products…
