L’Occitane Almond Body Care Range

Wednesday, 19 September 2007

I received L’Occitane Almond Body Care travel size kit under the Amande range sometime back which consisted of three items:

  • L’Occitane Almond Shower Oil;
  • L’Occitane Almond Delicious Paste; and
  • L’Occitane Almond Milk Concentrate.

All three products smell delicious with their almond enriched nourishing and softening properties.  They leave you smelling like a walking sweet almond cake literally and hence you’ll get extreme comments depending on your personal preference.  Some call it divine.  Some say it’s off putting.  But whatever it is, the aroma is definitely STRONG.

Of the lot, my favourite is the L’Occitane Almond Milk Concentrate, which is also their bestseller.  This is a silky, almost cream like concentrated milk that nourishes and smoothes the skin.  It supposedly helps to firm and tone the body, especially the breasts I was told. I haven’t seen uplifting effects but I do love how moisturized my skin feels and how I smell with this concentrate.  But the 200ml jar is expensive at S$88.

The next product that I like of the three is the L’Occitane Almond Shower Oilalso another customer favourite.   I was initially uncomfortable to use oil to bathe but was surprised that this shower oil transforms into a lavish, softening foam once in contact with water.  It doesn’t lather much but it does keep the skin clean and leave it soft.  Only thing is this shower oil is good in so far if your skin isn’t too dirty or greasy.  Plus it isn’t cheap at S$37 for 250ml.  Hence, I would say it is good as an occasional pampering treat.

The last product of the slate is the L’Occitane Almond Delicious Paste which contains crushed almond nuts and sugar crystals, whipped with nourishing almond oil and almond butter to stimulate cellular activity and gently exfoliate skin.  I don’t like this at all because I find that it leaves a sort of sticky film over my skin.  This is supposed to be a scrub so I expect to feel thoroughly exfoliated.  But no, nothing of that.  In fact, I felt I was applying goo all over my body with this.  Well, if we’re reviewing it in terms of the name then, I would say, yes, it does what it calls itself.  A paste at S$70 for 200ml!

While I love L’Occitane range, I don’t see myself spending money to purchase any of these three items.  They have their merits and some of them are truly nice to have, but hey, there are more stuff that are really nice to have out there!
