Beauty junkies would know and likely have tried this product.  Crème de la Mer Moisturizing Cream which is so coveted that it enjoys a devoted cult following throughout the world.  Rumor has it that J-Lo buys this in masses and uses it head to toe.  And it’s no wonder it’s one of the most popular beauty products reviewed at Makeupalley with 1043 users rating it 3.5 out of 5.

It is called a miracle cream, said to produce startling results.

In a short time, skin becomes softer, firmer, looks virtually creaseless. Aging lines and pores are noticeably less visible. Even the driest of complexions are healed. Sensitivities are soothed. And, of course, there are some who insist it has produced astonishing results.

This is so because at the heart of Crème de la Mer is a nutrient-rich, highly potent Miracle Broth which is a blend of sea kelp, vitamins and minerals.  It’s really the way the broth is distilled that made the difference between an ordinary moisturizer and a small miracle.   

Personally I’ve used Crème de la Mer for awhile some years back and I would say it is an excellent product.  It’s a very rich cream and left with me softer and glowing skin but because I didn’t have a problem with sagging skin then and I was more interested in lightening up my pigmentation, I gave it up after two pots. 

But what I found interesting about the product is the application process.  Because Crème de la Mer’s Miracle Broth is suspended within its extraordinary formula, you’ll need to activate the broth and release its key ingredients by warming a small amount between your fingertips before patting on your skin.

However, despite what it says, this moisturizing cream isn’t suitable for all.  Some find it totally overrated and even compared it with common drugstore moisturizers while others swear by it.  But I would think that those with sensitive skin cannot take to this product because of its mineral oil content.  Many have complaint of a breakout after using it and this is probably why there’s another new product, Gel de la Mer, a lighter version that is created with the original concentration of Crème de Mer’s Miracle Broth.  A colleague who couldn’t take to the original cream loves this although it cost about S$400 for a 60ml pot!

So is Crème de la Mer a miracle cream or an ordinary moisturizer?  I guess the answer depends on your skin type and your definition of miraculous.  I would call it a miracle if the price isn’t so steep at S$265 (thereabout) for the 30ml!
