Makeup tips for expressive Asian eyes

This makeup video from Makeup Gourmet has some rather good makeup tips to open up and bring out a more expressive pair of Asian eyes.   These are some of the important ones I remember after watching it:

  1. For smaller eyes, use a brightening pencil on the inner and outer corner of the eyes to open it up.
  2. For almond shaped eyes, defining the lower eye using an eye liner is important to bring out shape.
  3. For contoured eyes, an interesting tip is to add a shimmery color under the brow bone.
  4. When applying the eye color, brush from the outer corner inwards, rather than outwards so as not to distort the shape of the eyes.

The instructions are easy to follow and because all the three models have double eyelids, these tips will likely work well for some of the non-Asians as well.

Love your site!!! please keep it up!!!

  2. I like purply-colour eye shadow. You la… Always reading your site, makes me a little bit more vain. I was so simple before — just wake up, brush my teeth. Now, I actually put on make up for no reason other than being vain. LOL.

I tried a mauve colour and it looked like i rubbed my eye really hard and bruised it. But with the violet/purple colour — it actually looks pretty.

Irene: Mauve is nice but I agree, it makes me look a little devilish. I used to like purple a lot but now I like green. And it’s good to be vain! Haha…

  3. i learned alot from your tips and the video. thanks alot. 감사합니다!

    eun: You’re welcome!

You viedeo is great! However, I am an Asian with single eye lid, I would say I am considered almond eye.. please advise..

  6. i am really having hard times doing my eye-make up. but honestly, i dont know how to start applying full (or real) make up like using primers and concealers and stuffs like correctors. all i know is foundation, do the eyebrows, some colour for my eyes (eyeshadows), blush my cheeks, and lastly dab lipstains.. is there a tutorial on how i do the makeup tricks i see from hollywood actresses.. because whenever i watch t.v or movies, i cant focus on the story. i’m more on looking at how their eyeshadows were done.. :( thanks..

  7. This is a great video! Thank you for publishing it.
I have a hobby around make up stuff. I’m asian and one problem I have myself is that I’m very alergic and can’t use all type of cosmetics offered by known brands. I’m trying to create cosmetics myself from nature ingredients, but can’t find enough information on the net. Any sugestions and tips will be appriciated. Thanks allot!
