Less chemical overload with Organic Surge
Tuesday, 3 June 2008I was looking around for a body scrub for my husband when I stumbled upon on this new range of personal care products from Organic Surge with naturally-derived ingredients and certified organic extracts at Guardian. Since the products promise to give great results with no nasties or aggressive chemicals, I decided to give the range a try by purchasing the Fresh Ocean Body Scrub and the Orange Blossom Hand Lotion. Anyway, it helps that the packaging looks appealing enough and the price is reasonable at S$15.90 for each item.
Full range of skin, body and haircare products
The Organic Surge range includes bath and body products like soap, bath soak, showel gel, body scrub, body lotion and body butter as well as handcare products like hand wash, hand lotion and hand cream. In addition, you can also find haircare and skincare products such as cleanser, toner, moisturizer, exfoliant, face mask and even eye gel under the range. I haven’t checked all the prices but from the looks of it, they’re pretty affordable.
Natural but not 100% pure
What’s great of course is that the products come without parabens, SLS, sulphates, synthetic perfume, mineral oils, petroleum, propylene glycol and aggressive foaming agents. But if you take a look at the ingredient list, not everything is 100% natural. It’s just that they contain more natural ingredients and lesser chemicals. You’ll still find ingredients like Sodium Benzoate, Benzyl Alcohol and Phenoxyethanolm which are probably used as preservatives in some of the products. While most of these are not widely known to be irritants or allergens, some people still take issue with them. So if you’re very particular about ingredients on your skin, make sure you read the list.
Voted best body lotion
Personally, I still think the range from Organic Surge is worth checking out for the price range. Between this range and those from The Body Shop, I’ll pick this anytime because of the friendlier ingredients, smell and packaging. In fact, I’ll even pick this over Yes To Carrots.
Well, I just hope their products perform well enough. I also learnt that Organic Surge Tropical Bergamot Body Lotion has been voted the best organic moisturizer in UK so perhaps I’ll get that when I’m done with my current body lotions. Reviews will be up in time of course!

Hi There!
Which Guardian outlets retail Organic Surge products?
Twinkle: I saw it at Vivo City and Hougang Mall. Should be available at most outlets.

Surge line of products have become available in Toronto, Canada’s Shopper Drugmart stores as well. I was curious because they are an organic company. Also, I recently found out that they help charities in Africa. I am glad to have found your review. It seems that Surge is one of those products that feels good on both your body and soul!
Visda: Well, some of their bath products are fine. I don’t mind their lotions too. Which reminds me…I need to review that soon.

Hi, just want to know, why organic surge is more better.. seems all orgainc product are all siminar. any different between OS and body shop product??thX
shera: Well, not all organic products are the same. Some have better quality, truly organic ingredients while others are just riding on the word “organic” to sell their stuff. You have to look at the ingredients. Compare organic surge with body shop, I would go for the former if I prefer less chemical ingredients. But whether it is better really depends on the individual.
For me, I’ve been using other organic products on my face and I have to say that they’re indeed better than the non-organic ones I’ve been using.
