I was intrigued by the topic of couple wear raised at Popseoul. The author feels that couple wear is marking your territory and going to extreme lengths to show your love. Well, is it?
I think it’s quite a hip idea especially if the couple can carry the style well. Like these two young models of Korea wear Aden. They look cool and to me, they are making more of a fashion statement rather than showing off their love.
But I reckon couple wear is not for everyone. Then again, even if both were not wearing identical pieces, I think a couple’s fashion style should at least complement one another. Personally whenever I see couples at odds with one another in terms of their fashion sense, I can’t help but wonder if they’re at odds with one another in their relationship. And recently I proved the point with this young couple who is having marital problems. The man is fashionably flamboyant but the lady is too reserve in her dressing. A case of personality clash reflected outwardly?
So would you wear identical or the same style of clothes as your partner? Or have you already been doing that?

Personally I think matchy matchy is cheesy but cute. Not on a daily basis of course.
But you are right – a couple should complement each other. Now let me find someone to complement me!
Paris: And if that person can’t complement, you can always revamp his wardrobe!
It’s happened to me a couple of times by accident – Usually something simple like both wearing tan cargo shorts and white t-shirts. Once both of us wearing the same white long sleeved tee under a short sleeved black tee along with jeans. Not st all contrived but it just happened that way.
So I guess what I’m saying is that I wouldn’t plan such a thing but it’s cute when it happens on it’s own.
Elaine: That’s really nice! You know what they say about great minds think alike? I think you and your partner have great chemistry.
I think it’s cute, it’s even cuter if your sons and their father wear the same shirts, it is super cute. It’s easier for me to get the same shirts for my sons, that way they don’t fight over it, plus they get noticed more by the other girls their age
However with couples, I think if they wear complimentary colors that match, then it’s cool, otherwise it may become too boring and bland.
cowsandlemonade: Yeah, I think matching colors or style is fine but same pattern and design maybe going overboard. I don’t mind say wearing similar style jackets but the inner pieces should be different.
Eeeeps no no and no. Cute when you’re young, not so much when you’re older. Complimentary colours is fine, but matchy matchy or even wearing the same tee shirts (that is not a requirement of some sort of event) is just cheesy
Tine: I know what you mean. I thought about the age too. But I have seen some cool bikers looking good wearing about the same thing as a couple. I guess it depends on the style and how hip they look.
