Review: Yes To Carrots C Me Smile Lip Butter
Tuesday, 28 October 2008This is my new favorite lip balm of the moment! The super nourishing and conditioning Yes To Carrots C Me Smile Lip Butter in carrot flavor! It smells and feel delicious! And the best part is that it is 95% certified organic by the US Department of Agriculture (USDA).
Retail price is too attractive
Actually, this is my first purchase from the Yes To Carrots range. Somehow, I have not been keen on their products even though I like their packaging; probably because they don’t offer a normal foaming facial wash. But their C Me Smile Lip Butter caught my eye with their organic certification plus their retail price of S$5.90 each! YESH! Just compare this price to the $12 Lavera organic lip balms.
Lovely smell and perfect texture
I love how the light scent of this lip butter smell. And because the main ingredients of this lip butter are coconut and olive oils, it feels super rich immediately upon application. However, the rich ingredients are absorbed after awhile, leaving my lips sufficiently hydrated and comfortably nourished. Works as a perfect base for my lipstick too!
The lip butter also contains vitamin E and that is great stuff to protect our lips against all the free radicals. No parabens, no petrolatum but only natural ingredients.
Carrot ingredients
Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil*, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil*, Cera Alba (Beeswax)*, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil*, Flavor, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil*, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter)*, Limonene*,Tocopherol, Citral*, Linalool*, Geraniol*, Citronellol*, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis(Orange) Peel Extract*, Cucumis Melo Cantalupensis (Melon) Seed Extract*, Cucurbita Pepo (Pumpkin) Seed Extract*, Daucus Carota Sativa (Carrot) Root Extract*, Eugenol*. *Organic
Available in five flavors
According to the website, Yes To Carrots C Me Smile Lip Butter comes in five flavors – Carrot, Berry, Mint, Melon & Citrus. However I only saw three at the Watsons I visited and they were Carrot, Berry and Mint. I was tempted to get the berry flavor too but had to stopped myself because I already have too many lip balms that are barely used. But knowing me, I’ll probably go and grab another soon.
Summary
So you can tell that I really love this lip balm. Because it does what it says and that is to hydrate, condition and soothe. Plus at $5.90, it’s such a steal for an organic lip butter. In fact, I’m starting to think about trying their other stuff. Or maybe I’ll just wait till the new Yes To Tomatoes and Yes To Cucumbers become available here.

Looks like good stuff, I am addicted to lip balms:)
Leon: I believe you’ll like this.

Hi, where can I find this brand? I think I came across this brand in Guardian but I’m not sure..
Sel: Are you in Singapore? It’s available at Watsons.
October 29th, 2008 at 6:24 am
I saw it at United Square Watsons too.
Goodie, a new lip balm to try out.
Sesame, waiting for the review for the DIY Vitamin C you post a few entries ago. Is it better than the other vitamin c products you used so far?
Faeryberry: You mean the John Masters Vitamin C Serum? It’s here. I like it, but by itself I’m not so sure if it made a lot of difference. It was the Maximum Moisturizer that did some difference for me. But that one is rather rich. I use it mostly around my cheek area and sparingly on my T-zone. Hmm…I remember you buying that or another one from John Masters right?

oh, i mean the L ascorbic DIY mask. Yes, am using the vitamin c serum.
i like it. made me whiter and smoother. there was a GOW spree with 15% of vitamin c in the serum but i didn’t buy. Just wondering if the mask you tried was effective since it has a high percentage of vitamin c in it. ^_^
Faeryberry: Oh the DIT Vit C serum. Yes, I like it! I was a bit worried at first but it turned out very well. I just received my new order of another 20g of the L-Ascorbic Acid. I make a batch every three days and apply it usually at night or in the day when I know I won’t be under direct sunlight. So far, so good. Actually today, I was looking at my skin and noticed that my pores are slightly smaller. With powder on, it’s not so obvious. So I wonder if it’s due to the vit C cos someone in the forum mentioned that specifically.
But I don’t like using too much glycerin. Makes my skin sticky. So about 6 drops for 5ml is good for me.

cool! then i can go buy it to try. my pores are HUGE.
Faeryberry: But I can’t be certain if it’s cos of that…though vit C will help stimulate collagen so it can possibly help. The large pores could be due to oily skin, or weak collagen btw.
October 29th, 2008 at 11:13 pm
Definitely due to the clogged pores i had when i was younger. Sigh…
Faeryberry: Well, I have pigmentation problems from younger days too. Don’t worry. If you’re willing to go the dermatology way, they can even help you reduce the size. But it isn’t the natural way of course.

I did hear about using laser etc to reduce pores, but it’s only temporary.
Yes, it is not natural. I am hesitant to non natural one time procedures because you never know what is the long term implication of such procedures. Not against instant gratification in fact might do it next time just that natural methods are slower but safer. And you know what you are doing with your skin and body.
Sesame, have to say this but you really do have a great site. All thank to you i started on organic skincare and actually see an improvement to my skin.
Faeryberry: Yeah, you’re right about it being temporary. Have to keep going. I used to go for IPL and my pores were smaller then. Although I prefer natural ways too, but I’m open to non-invasive treatments. Haha…it’s a bit of a contradiction I know.
Oh, I’m very happy that you find the info here helping you.
I’m glad to share but sometimes I’m also worried that what I recommend won’t work for others. But I’m really happy for you that you’re seeing an improvement! I wish I had the Web for info when I was younger. *sigh* Different generation. But still, I’m happy I get to share what I enjoy now.
October 30th, 2008 at 8:23 pm
oh, but does ipl actually makes the skin thinner? How long does it last?
If it is non invasive it’s ok i guess.
Yah, i wish that i learnt how to take care of my skin better when i was younger. Internet would have benefitted me alot then.
Faeryberry: No, IPL won’t make it thinner. It will help to firm the skin because of the stimulation to the collagen. If used consistently, it helps to reduce some small pigmentation too. Last about 10 mins. You may find it uncomfortable though.

I completely agree with faeryberry, internet would have been a huge help back then for skin care. Yes to carrots has started selling here in the Target stores, I saw their lip balm as well but was hesitant to purchasing their products so thank you for your review! Will go out and try, I’m a huge lip balm person as well so the more the merrier? Whatever I don’t use, my sons use!
cowsandlemonade: It’s quite nice. I hope you’ll like it. Good thing is that it doesn’t cost much. Your sons use lip balms? That’s cute! I should get mine to try since his lips are sometimes dry.

i’m glad you posted about this or else i would’ve never known about this brand. i’m gonna go to long’s drugs or target later this week to see if i can find some and pick one up to try! my lips tend to peel and they’re always really dry so i never really wear lipstick or lipgloss =( just finished a tube of dr. hauschka lipbalm and although it was good, it was too expensive for lipbalm! ($14US) so hopefully this will work well for me! =)
reggi: I hope you’ll ike it! Dr Hauschka is even more expensive where I am.
November 5th, 2008 at 12:01 pm
ok i went to long’s yesterday and whole foods today and both didn’t carry it. i called ulta and they don’t have their line of lip balms -_- target is my last hope!! i really want to try it! haha =(
Reggi: Hey, check it out at yestocarrots.com to find out where you can buy.
November 5th, 2008 at 12:45 pm
Oh I’m so going to check it out in my next trip to Target
Tine: In Australia, apparently you can find it at Priceline, Big W and My Chemist.

Yes to tomatoes are suitable for combination skin. I may try them out when its release in Spore. My favourite lipbalm is Blistex Lip Infusion in roller ball form. It costs around $10 but worth the price as you only need to apply it 3 to 4 times per day.

any weird smell to this lipbalm?
Daphne: No, it’s not weird to me. It’s quite pleasant actually.

hi sesame,
i went to few watsons, but still i couldnt find this lip balm .. sobss
Miyo: No? I just saw it at the one at Compass Point.
August 3rd, 2009 at 2:33 am
Yes, it’s good stuff! I got the Berry flavour one and it is GREAT! Might want to be careful to not apply too near the lip line cause might cause clogged pores around the lip if not careful.
