Korean beauty secrets revealed

At the DIY skincare creation workshop I attended, the Korean trainer told us that women in her country are very particular about their beauty and would make sure that they’re all well groomed from head to toe even when they’re just heading to the supermarket. I was also told that most of them prefer to use soap to wash their face. Anyway, I couldn’t find out more Korean beauty tips from her but I’ve just come across some interesting ones from Laneige’s International Trainer, Jin Lee at K-popped.com which include:

Making faces can cause more wrinkles

I don’t know about you but I think that smiling and laughing really aged me. Although the dermatologist told me those are expression lines but to me, they’re pure plain dreaded wrinkles and fine lines! In fact, I had this strange thought that I can probably look younger if I didn’t smile and laugh so much in the past! So you can bet I have serious doubts that facial exercises can prevent wrinkles. And it looks like I’m not alone having this thought because Paula Begoun also thinks likewise.

Drinking green tea promotes slimming?

It looks like my slimming down over these few months could have been a result of drinking green tea almost every other day. I had initially thought that my weight loss was due to eating pineapples but it may not be entirely due to that.

Many of you are probably aware that green tea is particularly rich in a type of polyphenols called catechins and it is these catechins that researchers say may trigger weight loss by stimulating the body to burn calories and decreasing body fat.

DIY Beauty: homemade lip exfoliant

aspirin sugar scrub

I don’t know what’s wrong with my lips but it’s getting dry and flaky. Although I continue to use the Murad AHA/BHA Exfoliating Cleanser which I wrote about to exoliate my lips but I can’t use this too frequently or my lips will get quite sore. So I decided to try the DIY lip scrub instead.

Can you mix and match skincare products?

skincare range

Is it a good idea to mix and match skincare products? Or should we just stick to products from the same brand since they are always said to work synergistically together?

Is it practical?
In the past when I used to rely mostly on commercially available skincare products, I tried to use products from the same range because I thought they would enhance one another in terms of delivering benefits to my skin. For example getting the serum and the moisturizer from the same brand. But increasingly, I’m finding this too restrictive and in certain cases, quite impossible especially in view that not all the products under the same brand perform well.
