Review: Nvey Eco Organic Lipstick

Nvey Eco Lipstick

I was quite happy to see that Sephora in Singapore carries some natural and organic beauty brands. I haven’t heard or read about the Nvey Eco organic range of makeup but decided to pick up their organic lipstick to try out.

Muted Coral Pink Shine
Although there was a fair selection of colors but I still thought the options were quite limited and it took me awhile to find something suitable. In the end, I picked up 370 which is a muted coral pink shine because I wanted a slightly different color from my usual.

Matt and muted shade but not dry or cakey
The color appeared orangey when I tried it on my hand but good thing it didn’t look so bright when I applied it on my lips. And despite the color description, it isn’t shiny at all. In fact, it appears slightly matt but it isn’t drying or cakey looking; probably why it’s called a muted coral.

No lead or micronized mineral pigments
What I like most about this the Nvey Eco Organic Lipstick is that it contains natural ingredients: Caprylic Capric Triglyceride, Safflower Oil, Castor Oil, Jojoba Oil, Cera Carnauba, Natural Beeswax, Sorbitan Olivate, Honeysuckle Extract Candelilla Cera, Natural Vitamin E Acetate, Orange Oil. No lead and I read that the mineral pigments used are not micronized for 100% safety. So I can eat my meals with this lipstick without any fear now!

Moisturizing and lasting
The soothing safflower, beeswax, vitamin E and organic castor oil is said to provide antioxidant and nourishing properties for smooth soft lips. I would say the performance of the lipstick is fair. It’s pretty moisturizing and unless your lips are extremely dry, you don’t necessarily need to apply a lip balm before putting on this lipstick. The lipstick goes on with a smooth, creamy consistency and it does last a tad longer than my usual lipsticks. But as a whole, it’s not so much different from my usual lipsticks.

Mostly natural shades available
If you’re in the market for an organic or natural lipstick, I would recommend this range. But, the colors are rather limited – 17 listed on their website – and they are hard to gauge just by looking or testing on your hand. In addition, there are no glamorous shades unless you like something like real red shine! But if you’re into natural shades, the options should be good enough.

Fair retail price in Singapore
Because it is an organic lipstick, it cost more than the usual. I bought the Nvey Eco Organic Lipstick for S$39.95 at Sephora and it’s a good price since it retails at US$28 at Sephora in US. If you’re purchasing outside of Singapore, check out the availability online.

Kitty: Hey, thanks for your comments! ? Really appreciate them…and your support too!

for an organic/natural lipstick at the price you mentioned, I think I would prefer getting Paul Pender’s range of lipsticks, also with limited colours, but in Malaysia they cost only rm40 to rm50++. I think online the price range from $8.50 to $15.

Reese: Wow, that’s really affordable! I haven’t seen this range here nor have I heard of them before. The other one I came across is Afterglow but their lipsticks cost around US$22. I’m going to have a look at Paul Pender’s range online. Thanks for sounding me out!

Hey Sesame, I found this website when I was looking for a paraben free liquid foundation a few days back. I might buy the foundation, I have found 2-3 other brands that sell paraben free liquid foundation so I am kinda confused now:)

Leon: Choices are good but choices are also confusing…

  4. Elaine says:

I love that coral shade! I just looked up the product at Sephora here in the US and that shade isn’t available. I’m sure I can find it elsewhere, just have to do a little hunting.
That shade really looks good on you.

Elaine: Thanks! I’m sure you can find it somewhere online.

  5. Reese says:

sorry i just double check on the paul penders lipstick online, its $18.75 on its website, the cheaper price were offered by other website such as http://www.vitacost.com

Reese: I see…still, it’s quite affordable for an organic lipstick.

  6. nicole says:

I like the idea of organic makeup but have no idea where and what to get, as well as reasonably priced ones in SG…
Thanks for your good work and keep the updates coming! ?

Nicole: I know Bud Cosmetics has Logona but I’ve not tried. I’m also looking out for more organic/natural makeup. The Nvey Eco range is interesting but I find it a bit pricey and limited though…

  7. Amy Loh says:

Hi, the colour u chose looks great on u.. makes me wanna get it hee.. Cheers

Amy: It does? Oh thank you! I like it but it can get a bit difficult to match some of my outfits…

  8. Clarie says:

I am using Lagona lipstick and Lavere lip gloss. Lagona is great but it costs around 50SGD. Lavere…I think sensitivity might be an issue because if I repeat the lip gloss application throughout the day, my lips will swell…like bee-stung.

Claire: Wow, Lagona is so expensive here? I haven’t looked at the price tag before. I don’t use Lavere lip balms or glosses but some the gals say it’s lovely. Surprised that it can cause sensitivity.

  9. CC says:

Great post, there are not too many high quality organic makeup brands out there to choose from, but Nvey Eco really is in a class of its own. You have Lavera, Dr Hauschka, and a few other repuatble ones. The great thing about Nvey Eco Lipstick is the wide colour selection.

    Keep up the excellent work

CC: I guess the selection from Nyey Eco is quite large compared to other organic brands. But the colors are still quite limited compared to the normal non-organic range.

  10. Mineral Cosmetics says:

This is quite a comprehensive review of the range of organic lipsticks from Nvey Eco. I have tried their range of organic products and they suit my sensitive skin very well. ?

  11. Karen says:

LOL, this is an Australian brand but only sold in US or other markets.
Can’t find it anywhere in Australia, including big stores like Myer or David Jones LOL.

  12. sesame says:

    It is? I didn’t even know it’s Australian! That’s too funny…

  13. Sheena says:

Do you know how much the Nvey Eco blush retails for at Sephora Singapore?

  14. sesame says:

    Sorry I didn’t take note.

  15. fred says:

I used to buy quality lip balm, and I’ve tried several. I’m usually willing to pay dearly for a good lip balm to moisturize my lips well.

  16. Ling says:

Hey, I really appreciate the reviews you’ve done on your website. They’ve got me completely stuck on organic cosmetics and personal care products.. I’m trying to get my hands on a Lavera lipstick – do you know if they are retailed in Singapore?

  17. sesame says:

They used to be available at Watsons but it seems they no longer bring in the products. I suspect it’s because they were not doing so well.

  18. Miss Vinny says:

Hey, where can I find Paul Penders lipsticks online? Though… I’ve not worn lipstick for years sooo… it’s going to be difficult to tell my skintone. ?

  19. sesame says:

I’m not too sure actually…have you done a search online?

  20. Miss Vinny says:

Yeah, did a search online and it turns out that few online stores carry their products.

Hmm… maybe they’re not as popular as before.

Nevermind! I’ll go and look around in Johor and see if anyone carries their range. ? Btw, do you wear sunscreen on top of or under your lipstick?

  21. sesame says:

The online store i-lovemylife.com carries some of Paul Pender’s products but not their makeup range. I put some sunblock around the corners of my lips but I don’t apply over cos it’s kind of funny to me…not so comfortable with the idea of swallowing zinc oxide. ?

  22. Ayushi Patel says:

This eco organic lipstick is really fab !!!! I will definitely be going to try this shade.
