Actually, I find my lashes to grow in more volume and length when I start to apply mascara. The hairs themselves really become thicker and longer.

  2. AtelierGal says:

I use EVOO on my eyelashes every night before I go to sleep, and they are getting longer. The ones on my lower lashes are evidently longer than before.

Ladies, do give this a try. Not necessary to use it every night. Maybe once every 2-3 days is fine.

  3. The Undercover Gypsy says:

That was interesting. I guess we have all have different mascaras in our arsenal for volume/shine/length…

My 2 cents about growing healthy lashes and nails – castor oil. It’s sticky and gooey but just a smidge makes my lashes grow longer and also helps with weak/broken nails.

actually I try not to apply mascara too often because the tugging, rubbing during removal can weaken the lash roots. I apply mascara only when there is a need for me to do so, like wedding dinner, party, special dates etc. Applying everyday would be too excessive for me.

  5. sesame says:

That’s interesting! What mascara do you use?

  6. sesame says:

Ah I heard of this one and another using castor oil but I’ve never tried. Actually…too lazy to try. ?

  7. sesame says:

Yes, I heard many saying castor oil can help but I’ve never tried.

  8. sesame says:

I know what you mean…I don’t apply everyday either. It’s too much trouble for me and sometimes I’m worried about the mascara getting into my contact lenses.

  9. Dee says:

I never wear mascara unless I know I’m going out for some like a wedding, party, or what not. I hear about EVOO and Castor Oil, but I use a bit of hair food. It darkens my lashes naturally and gives them length.

    I’ve two questions regarding mascara:
    1. Do any of you ever finish your mascara tube? I never seem to be able to finish any of them, as I seldom use (only use it when I feel like it).

    2. Sometimes the mascara seem to be so smudge-proof that even using 1 eye makeup remover couldn’t do the job. But if the mascara isn’t applied thick enough, I wouldn’t be able to know it’s still not totally removed (but the cotton pad no longer shows the mascara colour)! How would you know if the smudge-proof, waterproof mascara has totally been removed, and not left on the lashes?

  11. sesame says:

What’s this hair food you mentioned? Is it a brand?

  12. sesame says:

I’ve never finished my mascaras cos like you, I seldom use them. As for smudge-proof, I’ve come across some when I need to wash twice to get rid of it completely. So you need to check for the residue. Wiping with a toner on a cotton wool might tell you if it’s completely removed.

  13. sesame says:

Yup, I have heard but I didn’t know the origin.

  14. Dee says:

Hair food? Its a product from Johnson’s. Its actually for your hair, but I got the tip from my mom when I was in high school. I just put a realy teeny tiny amount on my lashes (not near the base), just to darken them a bit when I don’t feel like wearing mascara.

  15. sesame says:

Oh, sounds really interesting. I wonder if we have this here cos I don’t recall seeing this before.

  16. pf1123 says:

I use Majolica Majorca’s lash bone and just any mascara. Previously I used some China brand (e.g. Charming Cat, Flamingo) and now I’m using Stila’s.

I don’t think its the brand, but the day to day combing.

I’m kiasu about cleaning off mascara. So, I use a eye makeup remover and also cleansing oil. I’m using an olive oil base cleansing oil. Doesn’t hurt my eyes when I put it over them directly. I will carefully check if there are anymore residue by looking closely and also touching my lashes to see if they are still hard and spikey.

Btw, I was given this link http://www.hsa.gov.sg/publish/hsaportal/en/health_products_regulation/cosmetic_products.html
in my mailbox from ebay. I’m now made responsible for the products I sell on ebay!! Even though I’m not a regular business. I just sell those stuff I buy on impulse and won’t be using them. But now I guess not. Its too much of a hassle.

  17. pf1123 says:

Btw, I think using the Lash Bone (mascara primer) really helps to thicken and keep the curl. My curl can last for >10hrs.

Makes my slow drying mascara (i.e. Stila) smudge proof too. Coz I blink a lot. If I don’t have the lash bone to hold my curl up, there will be lash marks on my under eye area.

With regards to mascara, I hardly really finish them as well before the “general 3 months after opening” expiry date. Even though I use them on work days and occasionally on weekends if I need to attend events. So, I will trash them after about 4 months. So, I don’t buy expensive mascaras.

How about the others? I hardly see any sample size mascara to use. If there are, then I will buy those.

Apparently DHC’s Lash Tonic is quite popular. I always wondered if it worked and I guess it does since it got so many good reviews on MUA:

So HSA is tightening their regulation online? Good that they’re trying to be on top…But yours is 2nd hand and assuming they’re approved in the first place, I thought it should be fine no?

  20. sesame says:

What a coincidence! I just read someone who used it but I’m not sure if it’s any good.

  21. kris says:

i just bought the talika lipocils from sephora last week. the product claims that it thickens and lengthens the lashes.

as for my observation, ive noticed the difference on my lashes. my lashes are a lot thicker than before but i haven’t noticed if my lashes lengthened. probably because its only been a week. but i can definitely recommend this product. it is also a good mascara base!

  22. sesame says:

I’ve heard many raves about this product though I’ve not tried it to know how well it works. It’s very expensive.

  23. pf1123 says:

Mine is second hand but then I sell products that I buy from overseas and not available in Sg.

  24. sesame says:

OIC. I think the blogshops have spurred them to police more online.
