DIY Beauty: chocolate anti-aging face mask

Are you in for a fun, yet nourishing facial mask? If you are, you should try the chocolate facial mask using cocoa powder as seen in this YouTube video.

Improves mood
Cocoa powder is not only tasty but because it is full of fatty acids, it is able to make our skin soft and nourished. The ingredient is also a powerful antioxidant that can help to protect the skin from free radicals plus it can help stabilize our mood by initiating serotonin release to make us happy and relaxed.

Great exfoliant
The chocolate anti-aging face mask is quite easy to make but you need a couple of other ingredients including yogurt, oatmeal and honey. Oatmeal it is good for sensitive skin, and like yogurt, works well as an exfoliant. Honey on the other hand, is a great anti-bacterial agent, that can deeply cleanses your skin and opens up clogged pores.

Ingredients
2 tablespoons of cocoa
2 tablespoons of plain yogurt
1 tablespoon of honey
3 teaspoons of oatmeal powder

Preparation
Mix all the ingredient and apply on the face, gently massaging it so that oatmeal can start exfoliating the dead skin cell layer. Leave it on for about 20 minutes and rinse off with luke warm water.

A fun facial mask to give you soft smooth skin. Enjoy!

I really love the idea of a home made chocolate anti ageing face mask! I would certainly be eating some chocolate on the side too, just to boost the indulgence of the experience.

Oh wow…this does look yummy…I mean, nourishing LOL! I also was wondering how you would get the oatmeal in powder form? I love natural ways to keep our body feeling well and I take the Vidazorb OPC daily age defense, as well as moisturizing once or twice a week with olive oil! Thanks for this recipe :) I can’t wait to eat, er, try it!

the mask looks really tempting and rather easy to prep!

by the way, just wanted to draw your attention to a sunblock that i saw when browsing at the Australian supermarket (i’m on holiday there till next week). it’s called invisible zinc and is the only blocking agent in the sunscreen at the percentage of 18%.

what do you think? given it’s ingredients and the product description of it’s ability to be an effective sunblock?

Hi Raelynn: I had a look at the website and this sunscreen range looks interesting! 18% is quite good if you don’t mind the fact that it is micronized zinc oxide (personally I have no issues with this). I trust sunscreens made in Australia because they’ve the strictest regulations regarding sunscreen labelling and if this formulation is approved, then it should be effective.

I guess it’s hard to tell after one usage and also some people might find cocao a turn off. Well, like you said, there are always other options.
