Seven ingredients to transform aging skin

skin care ingredients

Have you seen some of the recent beauty ads which promise to reverse aging by as much as 15 years? I thought it was too incredulous especially since a dermatologist who gave a talk at a workshop I attended mentioned that 5 years is more realistic. But, I agree that it is possible to regain some level of youthfulness; it just depends on what you use, and how you use the products.

For today, I leave you with a read from Total Beauty about seven ingredients that can transform aging skin. These information are gathered after Total Beauty consulted clinical skin care experts to find out which ingredients they believe in the most. See why these skin savers made the list — and where to find them.

So any of those ingredients are in your holy grail? Personally, my favorite is vitamin C because it really works for me.

    hi hi (“,)

how much vitamin C should i be looking for in a product?
    i.e. the concentration.

care to share which are your tried and tested vitamin c products that worked for u?

    thankie!

vitamin c has always worked really well for me too but i think it’s more because i’m not taking all that i need thru’ eating everyday as well so i take a supplement + topical application. vitamin e on my laugh lines work too, other than these, i really don’t see a need to use anything else than a basic toner and moisturizer and i’m 31

from what i see, most women are either too busy or too concerned with their weight to have a truly balanced diet, especially if they don’t work out regularly. what i’m concerned about is all these anti-aging products, some even targeting women in their 20s… other than sunscreen, i really don’t think anyone needs anti-aging care in their 20s, not until you’re in your late 20s anyway

what a proper diet for your skin is often underrated… especially where ‘good fats’ are concerned now that we’re all so weight conscious. but plumper skin does make the skin look so much better – just watch one of those slimming reality shows etc., people who lose weight almost always have great skin, no matter their age, i think it’s coz they’ve more fats on their face heh

I just started with the vitamin c serum ? Hope it works for me as well.

  4. sesame says:

For L-Ascorbic, it should be 10%.

I’ve tried TDF Serum, not bad. https://www.vivawoman.net/2008/05/09/tdf-c-scape-serum-keeps-skin-taut-supple/

The other one was John Masters Organics serum and Mandarin Maximum Moisture. https://www.vivawoman.net/2008/08/18/john-masters-organics-repair-sun-damage/. Mandarin Maximum Moisture worked very well for me, but it can be quite rich so may not work for oily skin types.

  5. sesame says:

I agree about fats on the skin…less wrinkled up. In fact, if your skin is good, there is no need to do more except for basic skin care and proper sun protection. Definitely good to focus more on proper nutrition for beauty inside out.

  6. sesame says:

There should be some improvement in terms of pore size and brightening. But it also depends on the formulation.

Forgot to add this one that I’m currently using and loving. https://www.vivawoman.net/2009/09/01/la-soie-silk-vita-white-pure-vitamin-c-powder/

  8. Elaine C says:

I’ve been using Retin A, by prescription for over two months now and I really do see a difference. I haven’t had a bad acne breakout and my lines seem to be diminishing.
I’m keeping on with this one!

  9. Grace says:

I broke out when I used the John Masters Organics Vit C serum. I used it together with other items from my Garden of Wisdom stash, and am quite afraid to use it again ?

Does this mean it’s too rich for me? I don’t want to let it go to waste, do you think there’s any way for me to use it?

    Thanks Sesame ?

  10. sesame says:

The serum isn’t rich but vit C can cause breakout for some skin types. How many times did you use? Sometimes, we need time to adjust to new skin care products. I try to phase in slowly if it breaks my skin out…like alternate days or only in the day or night.

  11. Blovet Beauty says:

oohh.. i like that they showcase alot of Olay stuff cause I love OLAY. Vit C can irritate my skin but I’ve heard that it works wonders on skin. I take it in vitamin form instead!high 5 to sunscreen, AHA and Retinol!
