I wrote something about this too sometime back - lazy to dig out - but some say that certain ingredients in the lip balms make us feel we need to use them more often cos of the drying effect. Actually I think my lips peel more if I use lip balm (excluding the time I'm on acne medication and REALLY needs lip balm). I have stopped my medication a few months already. When I put on lip balm, trying to use them up, my lips continue peeling. Now that I stopped coz I don't need to anymore, my lips don't peel anymore.
