Magazine gifts & virtual fashion buying
Sunday, 15 November 2009Year end seems to be a time when magazines come up with more substantial gifts to increase their circulation numbers. Or maybe it’s now an ongoing affair these days? I remember seeing girls queuing up at Kinokuniya carrying a few copies of a particular magazine offering a free scarf with each purchase. A better promotion was perhaps one publisher offering bag hooks with each magazine and all their copies were snapped up real quickly. Anyway, I hardly buy magazines anymore but I might consider getting if the gift is interesting and eye catching enough. How about you?

Anyway, the reason why I was late posting today was because I was checking out the stuff at ModCloth.com. They have some new items and I was also playing around at the site as their virtual fashion buyer, voting for pieces I like that will hopefully become ModCloth products. It’s quite an innovative idea; testing the market and getting products in based on public opinion. And if you like vintage, you may like to know that you can get 10% off their vintage fashion. Just enter code “Affiliate10″ for 10% off any order at ModCloth.com

Yes, I do buy mags when they come with nice interesting freebies, esp Japanese magazines(though I don’t read Japanese) with freebies of makeup pouches, tote bags, etc. And definitely when the freebies are makeup stuff…..but gotta be fast…as these freebies are always limited.

Oh now that you said it…yeah, Japanese magazines do come with rather nice freebies! But heh, those I’ll buy are those with covers or stories about my idol, and typically the entertainment mags don’t offer freebies…

I like freebies too, but whenever i get it, I’m always afraid to use them esp if they’re tote bags or clutch bags or such for fear that the person sitting next to me is also carrying the same freebie!!

Modcloth is great. If you don’t already know, they’re having a blog contest and those who enter have a chance to win a $100USD gift card. The details are on the website; just click on “Blog” and look for their entry from November 9.

Yeah, I was on the verge of getting the Elle copy until I saw the quality of the freebie…

i used to buy magazines regardless there are freebies or not. 1 or 2 years later i got bored with them because the topics are recycled. then i only buy when there are freebies, even if the gifts are crappy. nowadays i only flip through the pages at magazine stands.

That’s one of the reasons I stopped purchasing magazines too…

I do not think I have ever bought a mag…don’t know why :/…even though I love fashion and knowing everything about latest trends…in almost everything. But I guess I rather read blogs/reviews on the net…rather than spend money and not be able to get anything out of the mag…that’s why blogs like urs I come too..lol
