Should we tip for beauty services?

During a catch up session with a friend this week, our conversation veered round to the topic of salon tipping. It was a brief mention but it got me thiinking: are we expected to tip for our beauty services in Singapore? I know tipping is a culture in some countries but it’s not widely embraced here.

Replace my old Tweezerman Slant Tweezer?

My right and left brains are fighting because I’m undecided if I should get the Tweezerman for Benefit Tweezers. My right brain insist that the new Tweezerman for Benefit Slant Tweezer is too pretty to give it a miss and come on, the current Tweezerman Slant Tweezer is too old! My left brain on the other hand insist that there’s nothing wrong with using the old tweezer because it is still trusty and precise so why waste the money? So which side should I listen to?

SuperNature: one-stop organic lifestyle store

It was quite a hot afternoon when I visited SuperNature, a store located at Park House, a condominium in Orchard Boulevard. I had great difficulty locating the place and finally arrived like half an hour later than scheduled perspiring from the heat and as you’ve guessed it, feeling quite flustered. In fact, I almost wanted to give up half way but good thing I didn’t, because my moods were lifted as soon as I saw the many rows of natural and organic skin care products in the 4,500 square feet store. Honestly, I was only expecting a small selection of beauty products in the organic store especially since the website wasn’t that telling and the focus seems to be on food and groceries…so boy was I surprised!

Are you a makeup junkie or not?

I was looking at my stash of makeup and I realized that I only bought about 30% of them; the rest coming mostly from companies for reviews and testing. And even of the 30%, most were foundations with a few lipsticks. I haven’t bought one single blush my entire life and when it comes to eye makeup, I think I have bought perhaps like five palettes in the past with a few odd ones from MAC. Bottom line is, makeup don’t interest me and to be honest, unless they’re an organic brand or their packaging is so darn cute, I usually don’t bother to take a second look these days. Another confession is, I hate going to the makeup counter because I’m intimidated by snooty counter staff with a full face of makeup complete with fluttering eyelashes.

Bliss Triple Oxygen Instant Energizing Eye Mask

I love eye masks and I’m talking about those that come in the form of “pads” for the undereye area. Unfortunately, I haven’t come across any that contains just natural ingredients and the last ones I used came from SkinFood. So when I received the Bliss Triple Oxygen Instant Energizing Eye Mask in my goodie bag during the last media invite at Bliss Spa, of course I had to try them out!
