I had quite a load of fun with three lovely fellow beauty bloggers – Joyce, Mag and Sarah – at a get together organized by Benefit Cosmetics Singapore two days ago. Instead of just getting to find out more about their cosmetics, we had great fun decorating cupcakes dressed as Benefit Cosmetics Sugarbomb maidens complete in aprons and headbands!

Why do my synthetic face brushes turn oily?

If you like using synthetic brushes, you most probably like it because they feel soft on your skin. I love them too and in fact, have stopped using brushes made with animal hair because they’re rough to the touch. However, the problem with synthetic brushes for me is that after a couple of washes, they feel oily and the brushes don’t retain their original shape anymore. Do you have a similar problem? I wash my brushes with a baby shampoo and body wash and initially I thought it was because I didn’t wash them clean but after washing like two or three times repeatedly, the problem still remains.
Viva Challenge: tone up your butt and thighs

Okay ladies, I need a lot of motivation here and maybe some community spirit is going to get me going. I need to tone up my buttocks, which are way too flabby! I had meant to do the frog squats but never really got round to it. They’re the easiest but yeah, blame it on my lazy arse. Anyway, I found this touch and go squatting exercise using a chair and I thought it looks easier.
Hada Labo Super Hyaluronic Acid Products

A few weeks ago, I was sent the Hada Labo Super Hyaluronic Acid (SHA) range, comprising the SHA Moisturizing Lotion, the SHA Hydrating Essence and the SHA Hydrating Face Wash to review. Launched by Rohto-Mentholatum Singapore, Hada Labo is positioned as a simple, minimalist and highly effective skincare brand to attain water-radiant skin based on its “Perfect x Simple, no more no less” philosophy. Unnecessary additives such as alcohol, colorant, fragrance and mineral oil that will burden the skin are excluded. Instead, beneficial ingredients such as the Hyaluronic Acid are included. Their slogan “one drop locks up an ocean” really make their products sound very hydrating. So are they really so?
Are oral beauty supplements your kind of thing?

The other day, I almost got myself a bottle of sheep placenta supplement that was on sale. However, I thought I better read up more about it before making the purchase. In the end, I decided against it. Come to think of it, I’ve become a coward (read: kiasi) when it comes to beauty supplements. I was never like that. Years ago, I would purchase supplements that promised me fuller hair or healthier nails and I didn’t need much prompting about eating collagen for skin firming. However, somewhere along the way, I got lazy. And these days, I prefer to rely on skin care products and treatments instead, while maintaining a healthy diet. I take supplements all right, but strangely, I’ll avoid those that are packaged as beauty supplements.
