Asian skin is less prone to getting sunburn

Last week, a reader by the name of Meredith L had left a comment in my entry that reviewed the Marie Veronique Organics Kid Safe Screen, telling me how their family were sightly sunburnt after using the product for an afternoon. According to her, it wasn’t a bad burn but she wasn’t too pleased because it was noticeable. I had replied that the sunscreen had worked for my boy when he goes swimming in the afternoons and I wondered if the difference in reactions could be due to the fact that we’re Asians and therefore our skin behave differently to sun exposure. Since then, I’ve made further verifications to confirm that and here are the facts.

Pretty in pink: the big fairy book edition

Until recent years, I’ve always avoided pink in my fashion choices. Pink was then to me, a weak color that lack character and not something I had liked to be seen in. It was a little odd since most women welcome pink for being such a pretty feminine color. It might have to do with my state of mind back then when I wanted to appear strong and tried to avoid looking too sweet. But thank goodness our state of mind are not always rigid and so I’ve increasingly learnt to embrace more pink in my apparel choices. It’s still not my favorite color but I do have a number of accessories in pink. So today, I’ll thought I’ll show some of the items in my stash that are looking pretty in pink.

DIY ingredients: β-glucan for skin renewal

I’m currently hooked on adding ingredients directly into my serum or using the ingredients directly on my skin. Current love includes capsules containing L-Ascorbic Acid, Glucosamine and Niacinamide from the Marie Veronique Organics Anti-Wrinkle Vitamin C Supplement. Although I don’t like the powdery residue left on my skin, but I have to say it is really performing. I’m almost done with the 60 capsules now and I see a mark improvement in my skin texture. Today, I’m going to bring your attention to another ingredient that I want to get my hands on – beta-glucan, a component extracted from oats that has multiple skin beneficial properties including moisturizing, wound healing, cell renewal, protection against UVA/UVB damage and reduction in hyperpigmentation.

What’s the difference with organic makeup?

Just the other day, I came across a comment left by a reader that she found little difference between organic makeup and the usual makeup. I had agreed with her partially because I have come across some with ingredients that didn’t seem that much different. However, if we look at the more established organic makeup brands that are certified, there is a noticeable difference. So today, I thought I’ll put up some comparison between organic makeup, mineral makeup and the usual conventional makeup. For this purpose, I’m going to compare one product and that is the face powder.

Share: what’s your favorite eye cream or gel?

Hello VivaBellas! I need your recommendation for a good eye cream or gel. I’m currently looking for a good eye product that won’t cost me an arm and a leg. I do love the Organic Apoteke Rejuvenating Eye Cream because it was quite effective for me and is reasonably priced but I can’t seem to use it in the day because of how it makes my skin turn red for awhile. Others that have worked for me are too expensive and out of my budget.
