EWG list La Roche-Posay Anthelios 40 as safe

I posted the list of Best Beach & Sport Sunscreen from Environmental Working Group (EWG) on my Viva Woman Facebook page yesterday. If you haven’t seen it, you can look a look here. According to the list, the top-rated sunscreens all contain Zinc Oxide and/or Titanium Dioxide to provide broad spectrum protection against UVA and UVB rays.  I don’t recognize all the sunscreens listed but I was really surprised to spot La Roche-Posay Anthelios 40 Sunscreen Cream in that list because even though it contains 5% Titanium Dioxide, it is mostly a chemical sunscreen with 2% Avobenzone, 3% Mexoryl SX and 10% Octocrylene. The overall safety score for the product was 2, which means EWG deem this product as safe.

Marie Veronique Organics Anti-Aging Day Serum

I received this complimentary bottle of Anti-Aging Day Serum, SPF20 from Marie Veronique Organics a few weeks ago for review. Called Sun Serum in the past, this is a new formulation and comes in light tint, medium tint and no tint. The one I received is the light tint version. This is a product described as providing defence against premature aging with a unique combination of natural humectants, emollients, anti-oxidants, and sunscreen. It contains powerful anti-oxidants such as coffee fruit extract and Calaguala fern. Because this is a serum, I understand that it can be used in conjunction with the Marie Veronique Moisturizing Face Screen.

Eco-friendly handbags & accessories from Echo

I was at Wheelook Place on Friday for a hair treatment and on the way up the escalator, I caught sight of a store on the 2nd level and decided to check it out after the treatment. Turned out, it’s Echo, an eco-fashion boutique, which carries a range of eco accessories from designer brands. I reviewed their Harveys Lola Ruffle Satchel Black back in February and since April, they’ve opened a store at Wheelock. I was told that they’re going to open a new one at Takashimaya soon so it looks like they’re doing rather well and the eco fashion business is gaining some headway here.

Working with bloggers: collaborate, not control

Usually, I do not like to blog about topics outside my niche here. Neither do I like to discuss about behind-the-blog issues that I face. While some of you may have read bits of my rants in my tweets but I usually just deal with the issues as they surfaced and later dismissed them as incidents. However, increasingly, I’ve been facing more demands and collectively, these demands are a concern. So today, I’ll make an exception and discuss some issues that have been bugging me and brought me some levels of discomfort as a beauty blogger. I think it’s also important for me to address them before such issues get escalated beyond my control.

Beauty breakfast: wholemeal bread & egg *yums*

Good morning VivaBellas! What did you have for breakfast this morning? Was it something delicious, nutritious and good for your skin? This is what I have for breakfast this morning. A sandwich of wholemeal bread with egg and ham. Okay, the ham wasn’t so healthy and I didn’t add any vegetables but the combination is still nutritious and delicious. Plus, it’s got plenty of beauty goodness too!
