Olive goodness: L’Occitane Organic Olive Skincare

Once upon a time, I was very enamored with the products from L’Occitane and would go all out to grab them. I even dedicated an entry to some of the L’Occitane best sellers and customer favorites too. Admittedly, I had good experience with their Immortelle range but I weaned myself off the brand after I turned natural and organic in my skin care selection. Once awhile, I still pop into the shop but nothing catches my fancy until I spotted this Olive Organic range. Since I was in the market for cleansers for both my face and body and their prices seem pretty reasonable, I decided to pick up both products.

Certified organic by Ecocert
The L’Occitane Organic Olive Skincare range uses three organic extracts taken from the olive tree: olive leaf extracts, olive water and olive oil – known for their powerful moisturizing and hydrating qualities. Many of these ingredients come from the Moulin du Luberon in Volx, which produces certified organic olive oil that carries the “A.O.C. Haute-Provence” label. The range is also paraben free and products are certified organic by Ecocert. Besides the two products you see here, there are other products for the face such as cleansing milk, toner, moisturizer, face mask and lipbalm.

My preference has always been for cleansers that foam and so I do like this. However, I don’t find anything exceptional about the after effects as I do not see my face becoming more radiant after each wash. I find the scent very strong when I first started using this, and I kept thinking I was stuffing my face with crushed leaves and vegetables. (^▽^) But I find that compared to other foaming cleansers I’ve tried, this one comes across more foamy and I didn’t need to squirt as much. The cleansing power is quite good and my skin was left feeling fresh, clean and non drying. I wouldn’t mind buying this again.

Okay, I gotta admit that I sometimes buy stuff without scrutinizing too closely. Or rather it didn’t occur to me to ask if this is a foaming wash. So it’s quite a bummer for I’m desperate for a body wash that lathers generously as I still associate foam with cleanliness! This one is creamy, doesn’t foam at all but I do like the light, fresh botanical scent. And since it does not foam, so this is pretty moisturizing and I can afford to skip slathering moisturizer on my body if I don’t want to. Plus, it does feel somewhat luxurious when I use this on my body. However, the price is relatively steep when I find myself using more of the cream for each wash, given that it does not foam. Actually, I’m going to be done with this product and although I rate this product above average, I definitely am not going to buy this again given the price.

Overall summary
Obviously, I can’t comment on the entire L’Occitane Organic Olive range just based on the two products I have tried. But I’ll say I’m not exactly very excited as the key ingredient is only olive but on the other hand, simple ingredients are better for those with sensitive skin types. Like I mentioned, I don’t mind re-purchasing the cleansing foam again if the opportunity arise but other than that, I’m unlikely to try the other products within the range.

Like you, I try not to get too near the L’Occitane shop, as I feel it IS pricey.

  2. Vonvon says:

I don’t really buy L’occitane unless they have those in value sets, smaller bottles, easier and faster to finish.

I think I might have bought a value set if their organic olive range…..gotta try it out now, esp the body wash…..since I am ever so lazy to slather on body lotion aft showering.

  3. heather says:

i’ve tried their olive organic range soap bar and cleansing foam. didn’t quite like it as it leaves my skin dry and tight. their other skincare range looks quite tempting though but i have not seen their ingredients yet.

  4. sesame says:

Never tried the soap but soap typically feels more drying for me. The foaming one was good…no drying feeling for me. I guess it depends on the skin type.

  5. sesame says:

They’re pretty ex. But I love their body wash under some of the other range…lovely scent.

  6. sesame says:

Agree on the pricing! But I still drop by frequently just to window shop. ?

  7. MsLips says:

I have been using the foaming cleanser and its companion face mist (toner) for some time. Like you, I like a foaming cleanser but for mornings. I love the scent and agree with you that it cleans well and is not drying.

  8. pf1123 says:

I tried the makeup remover, the cleanser and the face mist from this collection. Quite disappointed. Didn’t like it.

  9. Cara Smith says:

Awesomeness!!! It’s nice that they’ve gone organic with some products.

What other organic cosmetics do you recommend, Sesame?

  10. sesame says:

Oh, didn’t work? I quite like this foaming cleanser but unlikely to try others.

  11. sesame says:

You’re using the range too? Glad the cleanser works for you. I quite like it but the scent was a bit overpowering the first few times – felt like I was choked with leaves! Haha…

  12. Rinka says:

im a huge fan of l’occitanes body care range but i dont hear the same rave reviews with their face care. i love the immortelle brightening foaming wash though, its expensive but one bottle can last up to a year ?

  13. sesame says:

One year? Wow, I can’t get so far. I think I used it up in 3 months or maybe shorter!

  14. Bellisia says:

I have to agree with you. After I switched over to natural and organic products, I buy my stuff at either health food stores or online. Department store or brand names products have so many chemicals in them, it’s like wearing toxic all over the body.

  15. sesame says:

Some of the natural and organic ones still have chemical synthetics but relatively lesser. The products should also work to do something for our skin.
