Green Beauty: new ways to enjoy aromatherapy

If you like the idea of going green at home, then aromatherapy probably appeals to you too. However, I’m not talking about the typical scented candles or essential oil burners. Instead, think minimalist chic scent diffusers, like this Lady Bug Diffuser from 365 Days. I had a fun time watching how the green leaf slowly absorbed the Jasmine Ylang scented oil and filled the whole room with the lovely scent. And you know what? I’ve secured five of these worth about S$100 to be included in the VivaBella Green Beauty Box Giveaway of goodies for five of you!

Making aromatherapy a lifestyle concept
These are part of the designer aromatherapy from holistic healing expert, Cheryl Gan, who wanted to change the perception that aromatherapy is a cumbersome procedure, but rather an attractive lifestyle concept that can be easily incorporated into anybody’s routine. So working with a pool of creative minds, she has come up with out-of-the-box ideas and unexpected ways for people to enjoy aromatherapy. And she has put these ideas into three unique aromatherapy and home scent brands that range from quirky to minimalist and classy. One of them is 365 Days, the other is Mt Sapola, and the last is Barn & Potter.

Cute & unique items for grabs
So forget the usual lavender scented candles. Check out aromatherapy car accessories, fridge magnets, animal sachets, bookmarks and even garden accessories. And here’s one I’ve received, called the lavender Lucky In Love charm. I thought the charm resembles the stem of the lotus root but the smell is definitely intoxicating – it’ll make a lovely X’mas present, don’t you think so? Well, check this and other interesting aromatherapy items at Mt Sapola and 365 Days at #B2-K9 Marina Bay Sands, #01-k1/2 Vivocity, #02-18A Great World City, #02-31 Mandarin Gallery, #B1-12 Tanglin Mall, #01-12 Tampines One, and #02-04 Rochester Mall.

  2. Frond says:

love the ladybug diffuser idea… so much more fun than the ‘normal’ stuff you see around. I’d love to see it sitting on my bedside table infusing the air while i sleep… then to wake in the morning to greet a lovely little ladybug… can’t think of anything better!
will definitely make a trip down to their store to check out what else they have to offer… personally I love the smell of lavender… the e/o version not the usual fragrance oils… its my ‘perfume’ of choice. I love that it has so many uses too… and now my little girl loves it as well ?

I was being told once that one can integrate the benefits of aromatherapy into what you know about yourself through your insight into astrology. For instance, by researching and understanding the common traits associated with your astrological sign, you can then look to aromatherapy and essential oils to help you nuture your positives and help you towards overcoming your challenging personality traits and physical health issues.

This Lady Bug Diffuser is sure innovative. I can place it on my workplace desk so I can relax while working.

    I had tweeted this giveaway:-

Wow, this diffuser is unlike anything I’ve come across while searching for a diffuser. I started to explore into aromatherapy after introducing it to my skincare, and now I’ve purchased two terracotta diffusers, one pendant for myself and one charm for the car. Personally, I like lavender scent, so I used lavender EO on the pendant and I can smell it whenever I sit down or go to sleep. The smell makes me feel calm and I can read/study/sleep better. For the terracotta charm, I mix tea tree and peppermint to get a fresh scent and helps to clean the air in the car when I hang it for a couple of hours. With fresher-smelling air, I don’t get throat infections or colds easily.

I tried mixing my own perfume oil but I don’t have many EOs on hand to get a all rounded smell. Sometimes I just dab bergamot EO or lemon EO on my wrist to get the citrus smell and it perks me up straight away. However I don’t recommend to use bergamot or lemon EO on a large area in the day because they have photosensitive properties.

The Lady Bug Diffuser is definitely good to use at home, as we cannot tug it around, I would probably place it in the room where it diffuses and scents the air until I come home and feel like I’m going to sleep in a lavender field.

  5. Juliana says:

I love aromatherapy! I usually use the usual candle burner to light up my essential oil. Fav combi is lavender, chamomile and bergamot. Very relaxing ?

I have been looking for a diffuser but have not found the “right” scent plus the usual run of the mill diffuser just looks boring. The ladybug version is so cute! I would probably put it at my work desk area so I can look at it and smell it when I’m feeling stressed!

  6. BT says:

I was into aromatherapy since 10+ years ago, when aromatherapy concept was widely introduced in normal lifestyle in my country. May be more precisely, I can only afford aromatherapy diffuser/chain when I started having earning power. I also used aromatherapy skin care in recent years and they worked fabulous.

In Thailand I had seen a white paper flower tucks inside a bottle that filled with fragrant essential oil, then the flower will slowly absorbed the oil and diffuse the fragrance around. I bought it as gift to a friend and she very liked it too! I wanted to get one for myself but my favorite scent Lily was out of stock. I can imagine the Jamine-Ylang must be smelling immensely nice. (“v)

The ladybug diffuser looked really cute and serve as a delightful decorative piece. Depending on scent, I wish to place it on my breakfast table in balcony… fragrant, morning sunshine and healthy breakfast make a good day start. I wish to have it around when I have tea session with closed friends at home..relax and calming. I also wish to place it in bathroom to make me feel bathing in garden… haha, my wishful thinking.

  7. sesame says:

It’s very creative huh? Makes you more inclined to try aromatherapy too if you haven’t already started.

  8. sesame says:

I’ve seen some of their items at Vivo City…pretty interesting.

  9. sesame says:

I haven’t any idea about aromatherapy and astrology. But I’m not into the latter though.

  10. sesame says:

The scent of this Lady Bug Diffuser is Jasmine Ylang, not Lavender though…

  11. sesame says:

Yeah, it’s cute and the scent is also rather soothing.

  12. sesame says:

Oh I can imagine the aromatherapy choices in Thailand…actually these are made there and yes, the diffuser makes a delightful decorative piece.

  13. Dita says:

    It seems really great.
Is there any way how to order online? I am from Europe… ?
    thanks Dita

  14. Alexandra says:

I love aromatheraphy because I love having my environment to smell nice! As a person with a creative and stressful background , it is important for me to be in a nice environment so to get the juices workin’ with some uplifting scents or some soothing scents which relaxes me.

This Lady Bug Diffuser is definately unique and it’s so cute to look at! It is better than those usual ones with sticks or the simple burner type. This will be a perfect addition to brighten up my working studio.

  15. sesame says:

They do not have an online store though as they run retail outlets.

  16. sesame says:

It’ll definitely help with relieving the stress while working. And good eye candy too.

  17. Issa says:

wow, this is a nice idea…

  18. kay says:

I recalled going into this shop at Tampines One as I was typing this reply. You can smell a mixture of stuffs when you walk past the shop and even during the busy lunch hour, I felt serene when I enter the shop as I was engulf in the bubble of scents. I told myself I would get a reed diffuser before the end of this year, probably it’s time for me to go and have a look in the shop again.

  19. sesame says:

Yeah, I was also attracted by the smell and that’s how I stepped into their area to check. Hope you’ll find something you like.

  20. Sara says:

As I am interested in making natural cosmetics, it led me to use essential oil (to mask unpleasant as well as to give the cosmetic extra benefits) and gradually learned about aromatherapy.

I like to enjoy aromatherapy before I go to sleep. Lavender essential oil makes me sleep really well.

I’m currently using the common aromatherapy burner made of ceramic. As I need to use a candle to heat the water so that the essential oil will evaporate, I have to place it at my cosmetic table faraway from the fan and my bed.

When I was in London, I saw an electric burner which produces heat using a light bulb! How smart! But I didn’t get it because I’m afraid I might break it on the way back home…

I’ll put this lady bug diffuser at my bedside table. It’s nearest to my bed so I can enjoy the scent more.

  21. Pollya says:

I have a simple reed diffuser aromatherapy on top of my shoe cabinet at the entrance. No, it’s not to “neutralise” the smell of the shoes — altho whatever secondary effect it has in this regard is most welcome, haha — but it’s to give visitors (and me coming back after a hard day’s work) a pleasant whiff of a refreshing scent on entering the house ?
This ladybug diffuser is really quirky. I could “hide it” in a small pot of plant with similar leaves, and people will think the scent comes naturally from the plant itself, ke ke! And I’ll tell them I’m rearing the lady bug as a pet! ?

  22. sesame says:

Oh, a diffuser at the door entrance? Hmm…nice idea!

  23. sesame says:

Yeah, I’ve come across the electric type but the only thing I didn’t like about it is that it’s restrictive as in you can only put it at certain places with electric sockets.

  24. Jung says:

I have a love and hate relationship with aromatherapy. I started using essential oil with burners and somehow, it doesn’t go well in my aircon room – the smoke from tealight candles irritates my nose. I resort to lamp bergers- again, not good. It doesn’t work when I turn on my ionizer (you try, it’s true!). And then there are the satchets types (potpourri) – not good too- when kept too long, it smells rancid.

So this lavender Lucky In Love charm is certainly a new class altogether- will love to try it pronto.

I will put it in my undergarment drawer and next to my PC when I work!~

  25. Carol says:

I wasn’t into aromatherapy until my friend introduce me to it 2 yrs ago. She did a research paper on it before. She told me that natural oils extracted from flowers, stems, leaves, or other parts of a plant can be used to enhance psychological and physical well-being which include pain and anxiety reduction, mood enhancement, relaxation, etc. I’ve tried aromatherapy before my intended bedtime to me help me fall asleep faster and stay asleep until my intended wake-up time.

I would probably place this cute Lady Bug Diffuser in my bedroom next to my computer to help me relax after work and fall asleep.

  26. sesame says:

Oh I remember those potpourri satchets…used to like them but not anymore.

  27. sesame says:

Actually aromatherapy is great for some of the common ailments. I like using essential oils to treat common colds, etc. It’s effective.

  28. Irene says:

Its great to know that aromatherapy not only makes the surrounding smell good but also helps in ailments. The product looks cute

  29. CT says:

looks like lotus root. Its cute but any function to the holes or for design purpose. Its great idea of just having burner, there are so many other designs as well.. I love aroma smell and even having one disffuser on my office desk. So that my office smells like a spa, which made me waiting to go office ?

  30. Audris says:

I’ve dabbled with quite a few aromatherapy systems from the ol’ candle and clay burner to reed sticks and electric burners. The ladybird diffuser looks to be much more stream-lined than the other older systems and more aesthetic and pleasant to the eye to boot (unlike reed sticks that stick out like erm joss sticks, imho).

Since I have no choice but to bring work home on a regular basis, a place of honour would be set aside on my work table for it if I’m lucky enough to score one ? That’d put me in a better mood, feeling relaxed, dilligent, at peace (instead of grumbling about lugging work home) and maybe even more innovative or creative ?

  31. EcoBeauty says:

“I’m joining your giveaway primarily because of the adorable lady bug.”
Sigh, glad to get that out of my chest! :S

Haha, kidding aside… I’m in the mood to mass-comment after just coming back from a vacation–which coincidentally, revived my love for aromatherapy in the house. I visited my Mom during the weekend and she’s into burning lemongrass aromatherapy incense now. I suddenly remembered that I have a long-been-forgotten bottle of lemongrass essential oil lying around here which I used to diffuse using an oil burner. I actually love aromatherapy candles, oils and all but I’ve got the memory of an 82-year old (probably worse). I always forget to put out the candle or end up feeling too relaxed that I fall asleep while candle’s still burning. I need something that doesn’t involve fire, haha.
If ever I win that lady bug diffuser, I’ll probably place it on my office desk since I spend most of my day at work.

  32. kay says:

I’ve RT-ed your tweet for this giveaway.

  33. claire says:

I’ve just gotten into aromatherapy because I need the essential oils to shoo all the mosquitoes away during this rainy season. I’ve gotten a little supply of essential oils from whopeekiddies. I used to love these stuff as a kid because I found the burners really intringuing. BUT my mum used to forbid me from lighting up candles or any sort of fire in my room. Years passed, and now here I am with my ancient value$ burner, lighting up my tea lights every night and infusing the air in the house with lemongrass. My mum now doesn’t complain of the flames but the scent. She thinks lemongrass should only be used in curries. HAHA ?

I would carry the super cute lady bug in my bag actually. Wouldn’t it be amazing to scent everything in your bag naturally! I hate using chemical perfumes. They smell really awful to me somehow. So some natural loving with pure natural essential oils would be a great uplifter all day! Well, of course, I wouldn’t use scents like lemongrass, teatree or citronella. Wouldn’t want to smell like a spa or a kid going out to camp. But maybe, sweet orange, lavender and chamomile.

  34. Lil Khor says:

I am not big into aromatheraphy but have to admit that the “lotus root” looks fantastic. Where will I place my ladybug? I will place it in my little old car since I used it daily to fetch my little princess to kindy. It will for sure enlighten her morning and mine as well.

  35. Renz says:

I used to be in aromatherapy a couple of years back, until I got worried about it being a fire hazard with a toddler running around, hence this would be extremely useful.
I would place it in the study/computer room. So that whenever hubby has a stressful day at work, he’ll having something relaxing to breathe in whenever he starts “stoning” in front of the PC.

  36. sos says:

I use essentail oils on my skin . I would place this in my room

  37. Lucia says:

One thing i like about going to the Spa is the scent of aromatherapy while getting a massage or facial. It is just so relaxing! I always ask the staff if i could buy whatever scent that’s filling up the place, but they always decline and say it’s not for sale. So i purchased scented candles, aromatherapy oils and diffusers and place them on my bedside table in my room, some of it i display in our living room and some in the bathroom. Among these items, diffusers have the strongest smell (strong in a good way), are easy to use and last long. I’ve stopped using candles and burners cause aside from being dangerous (with 2 dogs in the house!), i oftentimes only smell burnt fumes or smoke instead of the actual scent of the candles. The lady bug diffusers seem and look interesting. I’ve never had one like it. ?

  38. Bebe Lee says:

I am into Aromatherapy and I would place this cute Lady Bag Diffuser next to my bed which it directly infront of the toilet door. It will definitely help to make my sleep a better one as I am sure it will keep the stinky odor of the bathroom away.

  39. Jason says:

nice idea using the leaf with the oils.

  40. Corinna Foong says:

This looks great! Will put it somewhere visible in the living so that visitors can see it and be interested in it too. In fact, this will be great as Christmas gifts. I’ve been thinking hard about what I should be giving my friends instead of the standard bath and shower gels. Now this will be even better. Thanks!

  41. sherry says:

I’m into aromatherapy, I enjoy the calming scents, but my mum is a HUGE fan! She’s always got a diffuser in her room and she gifts them to all of her friends. I would put the Lady Bug diffuser in the living room. I think it would gather a lot of attention from visitors. It’s very different and not to mention, super cute!

  42. Swati says:

I am entirely clueless of how to use diffusers and everything so I don’t even recognize what you have in the pic!!! I tried using a diffuser once but nothing happened but I love essential oils but like to stay away from fragrance oils if they are not organic!!!

  43. fiona says:

i didn’t know leaves can do the job too!!! thanks for sharing!

  44. Issa says:

I’d like to put this on my bedside table!

  45. Caitie says:

I use a lot of essential oils and this looks like a great way to diffuse them. I think I’d try it out in my bedroom first ?

  46. nami says:

i am familiar with the ESSENTIAL OIL BLEND TECHNIQUES use in aromapathy but this diffuser technique is a whole new concept to me..

  47. Nika says:

I use classic ceramic lamp with burning candle. It would be much more practical to have something like Lady Bug Diffuser to avoid open flame or electricity.
I admit that I don’t use mine very often. Usually, when my kids have a flu or a cold, I put some eucalyptus radiata oil on, but my favorites are citrus essential oils, bergamot an orange.

  48. Viv. A says:

I’m not really much into aromatherapy, but I love to have a difuser or a scented candle. I like much more fruity scents like berries or cinamon/apple (it reminds me christmas hoho) than floral. It’s also nice t have some citric essential oils for when you have allergies or the flu.

  49. Jeni says:

I use classic ceramic lamp with burning candle, or my Scentsy.

  50. Lena says:

I am definitely into aromatherapy. This is a great idea as it doesn’t give off any carcinogens. I’d likely alternate with this in the main room and the bedroom.

  51. aibicon says:

That ladybird is really cute but I would say I am not into aromatherapy. Not only I have sensitive skin, I also have sensitive nose. I also dont put perfume as I will sneeze immediately. I heard that aromatherapy is similar to the scented candles. They all have similar effects ie, allowing us to destress, and making sleep at night more comfortable.

  52. Theresa says:

I once saw a glass of twisted pandan leaves in a bathroom (in an office building), and the bathroom smelled really nice. I thought it is both creative and environmentally friendly to use leaves as natural diffusers ? I’d place this diffuser in my bathroom at home. We have a big family, and we sure need work extra hard to keep the bathroom clean and fresh-smelling ? The last time I bought a reed diffuser, my sister placed it in our room and we haven’t had mosquitoes for the entire time it was there! =D

  53. Kim says:

The diffuser is so cute! I can’t resist the little ladybug on the leaf.
I’ll place the diffuser in my workplace to remind me to de-stress and take a deep breathe to breathe in the fragrant air. Also, the little ladybug shows me that it’s not worth sweating over the small things, but to live and let live.
Plus I can also spread the aromatherapy concept to my colleagues when they smell the fragrant air. I’m not big on aromatherapy, but am definitely keen to give it a try because I love it when places smell good!

  54. DJ says:

Using a simple leaf as a diffuser is a great idea! It brings some green into the house yet is simple, low maintenance and smells awesome! I’ll put it right in the middle of the living room, where there is high traffic and everyone will be able to smell it~

  55. Diane says:

i love to read on aromatherapy but i do not use it that much…my friend and i do talk about it all the time and even venturing to more unusual scents such as pepper…
    this would definitely interest her.

  56. Apple says:

    Hi Viva Woman,

I would place this cute Lady Bug Diffuser in my bedroom! Some aroma like lavender promotes sleep and this diffuser is really going to solve my insomnia, together with my eyebag problem haha! ?

    Cheers,
    Apple

  57. WendellCartwright says:

Have a tendency to get Aromatherapy! Aromatherapy essential oil has naturally-occurring antispasmodic properties. It is effective for treating a wide range of digestive complaints, such as easing irritable bowel syndrome, cramping or stomach spasms and pain.
