Sometimes I want to smack myself real hard for not reading emails carefully. Yesterday was such an instance. Well, what happened was that I had walked into the GUESS boutique at Paragon, thinking I was attending a fashion launch event. Little did I realize what I was in for! In fact, when I found out, I almost walked out of the store because I was required to do something I was adversed to – to try three pair of their jeans and then pose for a picture! I had thought it was something impromptu but later realized it was my fault for not clicking on the attached e-invite, which had contained the details of the “Try To Win” activity.
DIY Beauty: making herbal shampoo for normal hair
♥Guest Post♥ Today’s post is by Sara Khong, who runs an online business selling fashionable jewellery at zikkos.com. Besides fashion, she is also passionate about alternative medicine, homemade cosmetics and home spa. During the weekends, she takes time off to read books on beauty and wellness, concocting cosmetics in kitchen, & pampering herself with home spa.As making my own shampoo from scratch would be difficult, so the next best thing is to dilute an existing shampoo and balance it with some natural oils and herbs. It’s a milder shampoo no doubt, but it can still cleanse as well.
Green beauty: Jo Wood Organics from natureLOVA
Remember I mentioned about putting together a few boxes of goodies from some of the natural/organic brands and stores on Monday? Well, I have a name to these boxes and they’re called VivaBella Green Beauty Boxes! There will be five of them filled with green love to be given out in December and here’s a glimpse at the first batch of the goodies – three bottles of 200ml Jo Wood Organics Tula Cleansing Body Mousse and two bottles of 200ml Jo Wood Organics Tula Nourishing Body Cream worth over S$300 from natureLOVA.com. Lovely? Likey? More are coming!
Share: do you have a monthly beauty budget?
Many years ago, my bestie and I had a discussion regarding the bare minimum amount of money we need each month. She told me she can survive on a couple of hundreds while I said I need at least 1k. So we broke down the figures and she literally rolled her eyes at me when she realized that most of the money I needed was for beauty. Ha! That’s the good old me, when beauty was a priority. In our local speak, “die die also must beautify!” I was also working full-time then and so had no qualms about splurging money on my hair, face and body. However, now that my priorities have changed, so have my budget for beauty.
Review: Organix Cherry Blossom Ginseng Shampoo
This is one of those brands that I’ve avoided purchasing for the longest time because of the name. Why? Because I’m always suspicious of brands that call themselves Organic, Organics, or anything that sounds close. Come on now, there is not one organic ingredient in the product and this is a typical example of greenwashing. So why did I purchase this then? Well, I’ve had people coming to tell me that this is a good organic shampoo and I feel that some clarifications is required. At S$12.90 after sale, I thought I’ll give it a go just to see if it lives up to its claims, given that I’ve already taken the Organix Hydrating Teatree Mint for a couple of washes last year and it was not bad in terms of performance.
