When I was in college, I used to make my female classmates some crafty stuff for Valentine’s Day. It was fun, especially knowing how they would all go ga-ga over the simple handmade items. So if you’re planning to give some simple items this Valentine’s, here’s an idea for you – bottles of Himalaya rock salt scrub! They’re easy to make, cost very little, and you can really make them look quite pretty.
Beautiful natural salt
I think homemade bath items are safe enough because they’re not like stuff that might not work on faces. And you can of course choose other sort of scrub ingredients from your kitchen – like sugar, sea salt or epsom salt. The only reason I chose Himalaya rock salt is because they look very pretty on their own, and you don’t have to add any sort of coloring. Although I have used food coloring in my recipes, I am not really fond of them because they do leave a stain.
Minerals work well for cleansing
Himalaya rock salt are not only beautiful to look at, but scrubbing with the minerals in this crystal mineral salt provides cleansing and make one feel refreshed and revitalized. It’s good as a body scrub or just a foot scrub. But because this is salt, hence, it is not great if your friend has any skin tearing or open wounds.
Here’s a simple recipe modified from the epsom salt bath scrub recipe I’ve recommended sometime back:
- a cupful of Himalaya rock salt
- three drops of your favorite essential oil
- three to five drops of Jojoba oil
- one tablespoon of baking soda (optional)
Blend the ingredients together and store them in a clear container. Add a ribbon or something pretty and you’re ready to give it away!
Make a few bottles for under $5
The best thing is that the packet of Himalaya rock salt, which costs just a few dollars, can make me like five bottles to give away. All I need to make sure I have enough bottles and pretty ribbons. And here’s another idea to add to the salt scrub: a potpourri with some nice scented herbs!
