The Pure Natural Skincare by Green People

Despite the simple no frills packaging, this new range of skin care products pack a punch with potent ingredients such as Vitamin C, Organic Gotu Kula, Bee Propolish, Royal Jelly, Organic Green Tea, and Vitamin A amongst others. Dubbed “The Pure Natural Skincare”, they are formulated by the Green People Corporation in US, founded by two women who are passionate about healthy lifestyle and overall well-being. I was sent four products in the range for a complimentary review but today I’ll only discuss three of them, leaving out the Vitamin C Eye Gel for a future review under my eye care series.

The Pure Natural Skincare aims to be non-toxic and use mostly a mix of natural, naturally derived and organically certified ingredients without parabens, urea, 1,4-dioxane, petrochemicals, MEA/DEA/TEA, petroleum based sulfates, synthetic fragrances containing phthalates, synthetic colors, and chelators. Products are also not tested on animals.

Vitamin C Facial Cleanser 6 fl.oz US$24

Ingredients: Vitamin C Facial Cleanser: Water, Vitamin C, Organic Aloe Vera*, Decyl Glucoside, Cocamidopropyl Hydroxysultaine, Cocamidopropyl Betaine (from coconuts), Cocamide MIPA, Disodium Laureth Sulfosuccinate, Disodium Lauryl Sulfosuccinate, MSM, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Arginine, Olive Oil, Vitamin A, Vitamin E, Rose Hip Oil, Borage Oil Orange Peel Tincture, Oregano Oil, Tea Tree Oil, Organic Gotu Kola*, Organic Horsetail Plant*, Organic Geranium*, Organic Dandelion*, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexyl Glycerin.

Although this cleanser is not formulated with SLS or SLES, it comes with 6 different surfactants; namely Decyl Glucoside, Cocamidopropyl Hydroxysultaine, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Cocamide MIPA, Disodium Laureth Sulfosuccinate, and Disodium Lauryl Sulfosuccinate. So it does lather up well enough to cleanse my skin. I really wish I can say I love this one because it did deliver what it promises, and that is to refine the texture and appearance of skin. But unfortunately, this is the cleanser I had to abandon after a week of usage because it stung my eyes so badly that it took them a few minutes to recover after each wash. I had thought the sting might be temporary and that’s why I persisted awhile more but in the end, I decided that it was just not worth putting my eyes through that sort of strain. Plus, the smell is quite bad to me. I am not sure exactly what caused my eyes to be stung by the cleanser but when I did a pH level testing on this cleanser, it is neutral at around 7. So even though this one is said to be suitable for all skin types, I truly can’t vouch for it.

Plant Bio-Active Serum 1 fl.oz S$43

Ingredients: Water, Organic Aloe Vera*, Organic Propolis*, Witch Hazel, MSM, Organic Jojoba Oil*, Honey, Royal Jelly, Organic Gotu Kola*, Arginine, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Corsspolymer, Vitamin A, Melissa Essential Oil, Vitamin E, Organic Green Tea*, Organic Horsetail Plant*, Organic Dandelion*, Organic Geranium*, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexyl Glycerin.

I had high hopes on this product because this is lightweight facial serum loaded with bee products (Bee Propolis, Royal Jelly and Honey) along with vitamins and antioxidants from botanicals and amino acid proteins. It comes with a rather pleasant bee product smell that isn’t too strong and is slightly gel like but is not sticky. When applied, it instantly gets absorbed into the skin and I find my skin looking rather dewy and fresh in the morning. I love this product and sometimes use this with my facial oil and sometimes I use it with The Pure Vitamin C Facial Moisturizer. It’s also practically contained in a dropper glass bottle although I don’t like that it is transparent.

Vitamin C Facial Moisturizer 2oz US$34

Ingredients: Water, Vitamin C, Organic Aloe Vera*, MSM, Kosher Vegetable Glycerin, Palm Oil, Cetyl Alcohol, Glyceryl Stearate, Stearic Acid, Organic Safflower Oil*, Shea Butter, Sweet Almond Oil, Organic Jojoba Oil*, Vitamin B5, Xanthan Gum, Allantoin, Vitamin E Acetate, Vitamin A, Organic Green Tea*, Organic Gotu Kola*, Organic Dandelion*, Organic Horsetail Plant*, Organic Geranium*, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexyl Glycerin, Citric Acid.

This is described as a lightweight nourishing moisturizer rich in vitamin C and botanicals. It absorbs easily into the skin but I didn’t find it all that moisturizing for my skin type. So on some nights, I ventured to use this with my facial oil but they didn’t agree as I broke out some and I realized that I can only use this facial moisturizer on its own or with the Plant Bio-Active Serum. This product might have helped even out my skin tone as one of the claims of this product is that it can help reduce age spots and skin blotches. However, I wish to qualify that I only use this on some nights and I’m also using products in the day that help with reducing sun spots. But one of the thing that I dislike about this product is the packaging – an open jar that isn’t all that hygienic to use and allows for quick product degradation.

Overall summary
Other than the cleanser, I have to say I like this range quite a bit because the ingredients are suitable to address my pigmentation concerns and I see some positive results having use the products since early January in the night. However, I don’t use these products all that consistently because when I started on this range, the skin around my nose peeled a little and I had to stop for a few nights before resuming. In addition, I also like to state that I’m also using a facial oil with Astaxanthin along with this range and so, I cannot validate that all improvements to my skin are due solely to this range.

Now, some of you may have noticed that while I love the Plant Bio-Active Serum, I didn’t give it a full 5 heart ratings. The reason is because the product contains vitamin A. In fact, all the products that I received under The Pure Natural Skincare contains vitamin A, which I have a love-hate relationship. Additionally, I am not too hot about the packaging of the products as they are housed in transparent bottles or containers, which means light can penetrate through the products quite easily. Otherwise, I would recommend this range as they’re formulated with the potent ingredients at fairly affordable prices. But other than the Vitamin C range, you can also find a botanical range listed on their website, which I suppose is milder in formulation.

Guess it may be the Vitamin C that’s causing irritation and peeling. I had to stop Vit C treatment almost immediately too when I tried out once. Ended up wasting the whole series.

Just let you know, I got SkinActives emulator & antioxidant booster and Bioastin supplements. When I was having a backache & stress, I took Bioastin for my first time… after more minutes, my stress, panic attacks & backache / muscle pains disappeared. I guess Bioastin seems a mild stimulant, too. Next day, I noticed that my skin became softer! I feel more lively & active, haha! I continue using Bioastin.

I also already love SkinActives. I noticed that they lightened some of my freckles, awesome! I love to use my facial oil / sunscreen / moisturizer with SkinActives emulator & AB everyday. ?

Astaxanthin is heavenly awesome, you know. Thank for sharing! ?

  3. EcoBeauty says:

I think my skin is so used to peeling agents that it doesn’t get irritated easily anymore. I never had problems with products containing Vit C/Vit A or any acids that can possibly causing peeling.

  4. masterofboots says:

I am very curious about the organic eye cream so do post about it soon!

  5. Aida Mustapha says:

I can’t use a product with vit C as it will cause my skin to burn easily. As for product to help lighten sunspot and skin discolouration so far Botani OIive Skin Serum and Botani Skin Repair Skin seem to work as they have promised. It took quite awhile to see noticible results though…

  6. sesame says:

Could be that or something else…not sure. I usually have no problems with vitamin C though.

  7. sesame says:

Oh great! Glad to know they’re working well for you. I have no idea Astaxanthin can even help with panic attacks and stress although I did learn that it can help with backache. Awesome! I’m loving the serum too…using daily especially in the day. Best part is, it’s cheap and good!

  8. sesame says:

I’ve never had peeling issues with vit A nor C actually…a first for me. But no irritations using the serum nor the moisturizer though…just a slight redness when I apply the serum that goes off very quickly.

  9. sesame says:

Okay, will try to review in a bit.

  10. sesame says:

Your skin sounds really sensitive and so it’s better to keep to milder ingredients. The results will take longer yes but at least you won’t hurt your skin.

  11. H. Shar says:

Gosh, I really wanna get my hands on the Plant Bio-Active Serum, but the site says they don’t ship internationally. Which is a real bummer. =(

  12. sesame says:

It seems they are not ready at the moment…not sure if they’ll over it eventually.

  13. Amanda says:

I’m also using a moisturizer in an open jar. Every time I dip my finger in it, I feel like I am contaminating the entire jar!

  14. sesame says:

Sometimes I scoop out into a smaller container but it can be quite a hassle.

  15. Amira says:

I am afraid I have sensitive skin. I experienced allergies and irritatingly reddish when triggered. Itchiness is a bugging thing for me. I usually go to botanical solutions. I am afraid most products these days have chemicals that wouldn’t suit my skin’s compatibility.
Amira last post is: jojoba oil for acne

  16. jane says:

Thanks for all the great info. I am puzzled as to why the above product contains sodium laurel sulfates in numerous forms when that is a known nasty, damaging ingredient that we should avoid at all times, and should never be in a product that touts itself as healthy.
