Having my brows groomed at Browhaus in Paragon

I emerged from Browhaus, the brow salon, with the skin around my eyebrows all red and slightly sore but yet I can’t wait to get my next treatment with them! This is the first time I’ve experienced threading and I love it! Because my eyebrows were hardy unruly, they weren’t dramatically transformed but they look a lot neater without the stray hair strands, which were impossible to be tweezed out completely even with my trusty Tweezerman.

Getting a more defined look
For those who don’t know, Browhaus is a one-stop brow and lash grooming salon that basically takes care of all your facial hair grooming needs. This is also the first time I’ve been to Browhaus, having been invited to try their brow shaping and color tweak. However, I only ended up with a basic brow shaping complete with threading and tweezing because the therapist had noticed that the color of my eyebrows is too light and they’re really too sparse to achieve a desired tweak. So instead of experiencing a total transformation to the shape and color of my brows, I only experienced a basic brow shaping with threading and tweezing to give my brows a more defined look.

Serum that slows stray hair growth
It’s been five days since I’ve had my brows shaped and so far, I’ve yet to notice fine hair growing. Apparently, this is because the therapist had applied Peace, an instant cooling comforting serum containing Larrea Divaricata, a leaf extract that is anti-inflammatory, moisturizing and inhibits growth activity of the hair follicles. The serum certainly helped to provide instant calming of my skin post-hair removal and slower hair re-growth.

Fast and effective
My treatment was done in one of these seven colored tents at the newly expanded Browhaus Paragon, which is inspired by fun campsite memories. Basically, I just lay down on the treatment couch for the therapist to do her thing with my brows. I didn’t time the treatment but it sure was fast. I think all in, everything was chop chop and over in about 15 minutes. And I was told that the color tweak will last about 10 to 15 minutes too.

Price
Browgraphy, which is a 2-in-1 treatment including shaping and color tweak is available at all 12 Browhaus outlets at S$38 for classic threading, S$40 for modern tweezing, and S$42 for thread & tweeze. If you just want a brow construction like what I had, then the price list is S$15 for classic threading, S$18 for modern tweezing, and S$20 for thread & tweeze. For more information on their pricing and store locations, check out their website.  Now, because I was invited, so customer service was obviously good and I’m not sure how it is in the real sense. Perhaps those of you who have had your brows done at Browhaus can share your experience?

So tell me ladies, do you like to have your brows professionally groomed? Where do you usually get them done? (Mine is usually done by the beautician at the facial salon – if I do go to one that is.)

I get them done monthly, while doing facial. My beautician would pluck my brows too. And I love brow-grooming! =D

from my and a friend’s experience, it’s not all that easy getting a slot at browhaus; even if the salon looks empty when you want to walk in, the therapists will almost always tell you there’s no slot, even when they appear to be free. recently, i was given a 8.15pm slot when i requested for an evening slot; the place was devoid of customers when i walked in. we go to the orchard salons.

browhaus’ service is not bad, but a neighborhood threading place i used to go to isn’t any worse

I get mine done at The Body Shop in Paragon. That’s is the only location where they have spa and facial service. The cost is SGD15.

hi sesame, I have very bushy eyebrows.. Malacca Centre is quite near to my office so will drop by browhaus one of this days..

I have a question.. and apologies if this is a little out of place.. Ive read your article about keeping a beauty blog… my blog is actually a cancer blog but it has morphed into a family health blog .. as I have mentioned to you before i love all things natural (and it does not come as a surprise as my mother is into a natural cancer therapy… my past time seems to be healing every ill with natural remedies (whether it is tummy ache/diarrhea, toot decay for my daughter.. or tonsilitis for me)… my mother consumes tons of organic produce per week.. so my income seems to be always not enough to get us by comfortably… I am considering to monetize my blog or sell a few products…so I need some advice from you..

1.) how can I revamp the look and feel of my site (in an economical and easy to maintain way)
2.) how can I improve my stats (I average 80 to 90 hits daily.. 120 hits on a good day)

Thanks in advance for your response..

    regards,
    Lanie

I’ve been to Browhaus 2x and I’m thinking of going back to them one of these days. Once, they did a very nice job on my brows but I think the best shape I had was something I did on my own. I’ll probably bring a picture to Browhaus next time and ask whether they can replicate the look. I’ve never tried threading before because I’ve always had the impression that it’s painful?

  7. Sesame says:

Threading isn’t painful to me but it feels a bit like something scraping your skin. But your skin will feel kind of sore afterwards. I found it fun. ?

  8. Sesame says:

Okay, I’ll email you but give me some time. ?

  9. Sesame says:

    Oh TBS at Paragon? Hmm…interesting.

  10. Sesame says:

Yeah, usually during facial although I haven’t been going for facials regularly now. I think there was only once I had it done professionally at True Colors but found that they plucked them kind of too thin.

  11. Karin Yong says:

For me, I will go to a shop and threaded by an Indian Lady only for $5 for eyebrows and $15 for face. I find threading a bit painful.

  12. Sesame says:

I think it might be painful for the entire face. It’s okay with a smaller section. $5 is a good deal and she should be very skilful too.

  13. Sherie says:

Love your eyebrow Sesame. I also went to a beauty spa regularly to have my eyebrow threading and facial. Can’t go out with a messy eyebrows ?

  14. Tina says:

Hi Sesame, instead of brow threading. I have been hearing people going for face threading too like what Karin mentioned. Do you think face threading is any good? Never tried, but i heard it helps? True? And would it be okay for oily, acne-prone, sensitive skin? Thanks!

  15. Sesame says:

I’m not sure…I think it’s useful for those with facial hair but I’m wondering if it’s too “harsh” for the skin because of how the threading works. I really don’t think it’s great for sensitive skin cos my skin turned rather red and sore although it was temporary.

  16. Sesame says:

    Thanks.

  17. Siew Ying says:

I’ve never bothered with eyebrow grooming but recently I started thinking that I should look more polished LOL. The thing is, my eyebrows are quite sparse at the beginning part. Which method, threading or tweezing, will create a fuller eyebrow? Actually, what’s the difference between the two? Anything to do with the pain factor or rate of regrowth?

  18. Sesame says:

Tweezing will shape your brow. Threading gets rid of the stray hairs and so your brows look more define. Usually, I just tweeze. Tweezing is just like an ant bite while threading is like something thin scraping over your skin…you use a thread and then sort of try it on your hands and you might get the feeling. At Browhaus, they apply a serum to slow down the regrowth and so it can take about a week or so before you see new hair growth. Without the serum, then the growth is very fast.

  19. AC says:

I’ve been going to Browhaus for a quite a few years now, and I’ve always been impressed with their services – save for one time a few years back when my regular therapist wasn’t available, and I was given another therapist (I suspect she was a trainee…) who did an absolutely horrible job and butchered my eyebrows. Over-threaded it, completely destroyed the arch in my eyebrow, the tail was too short in the end… complete nightmare! But to Browhaus’ credit, that was the one and only time that I’ve ever been disappointed by them.

For me, I personally prefer threading because it removes a lot of hair at one go. I’ve done tweezing before, and it was alright, but I found it a lot more painful because my eyebrows are quite… hairy, and I find it quite painful to pluck them out one by one. With threading, it’s all removed at one go and it’s less uncomfortable. I do upper-lip as well, and it’s not very painful.

I think for those who have eyebrows that are more or less “fixed” in shape (i.e. your hair doesn’t grow back fast and doesn’t change the shape completely), it’s okay to go to any therapist, cos all they would have to do is maybe just reshape/tweak it just a bit and remove the fine hairs. But for those who have crazy eyebrows that grow really fast and ‘change’ back to its old un-groomed shape, I would highly recommend you to find a therapist that you like and stick to her every time, because then she would be familiar with your eyebrows and know exactly how to shape/tweak them whenever you come in for treatment. : )

  20. Sesame says:

Thanks for sharing and that’s a good tip about sticking to a therapist who is familiar with our eyebrows especially if one has got thicker brows. As for threading, I find it really helps to define the shape and I don’t find it uncomfortable at all. Just don’t like the redness afterwards.

  21. Jaclyn Toh says:

I always get my brows done by my fav therapist at the Malacca St branch. She managed to give me full but defined brows (the Korean style brows) after a previous threader overplucked them.

I do get a slight outbreak of hives after because I suspect I’m allergic to the powder.

  22. Sesame says:

Oh? Hives afterwards? Did you ask your therapist not to use the powder then?

  24. Kira says:

I go to Browhaus regularly, like every 3 weeks or so. They really did a good job of shaping my wayward brows and my overall look is more polished. Browhaus + the Shu Uemura Hard Eyebrow Pencil and I’m a happy camper ?

PS: I go to Browhaus in the Phils, I just came from SG but I forgot to check out the branches there, boo.

  25. Sesame says:

Yes, they do a fine job on mine.

  26. karleen says:

hi sesame, i want to get my eyebrow done, i’ve never do my eyebrow before, so im a bit scared to find a good place.
what is the color tweak in browhaus mean ? and which is less painful ? threading or plucking ? ?
    thank you

  27. Sesame says:

The color tweak is coloring strand by strand if I’m not wrong – check out info on their website. As for pain factor, threading may take some getting used to but it’s not really painful. Plucking is probably more bearable though.
