I’m not a stranger to Trilogy, having used their Trilogy Certified Organic Rosehip Oil back in 2008. I had liked the product and was keen to try others in the range but was dismayed to find out that when I did want to try, the brand is no longer available at Watsons. But thank goodness for the good people at It’s Natural! Six of their products are now available in Singapore again and I was given two for a complimentary review recently.
For starters, those who are new to Trilogy will be happy to know that the brand is built on the philosophy of being fuss-free, with absolute minimum of ingredient processing and synthetic ingredient inclusion. All ingredients are sourced from plant and mineral origin and the company does not use animal derived ingredients except beeswax and honey. In addition, a number of Trilogy products are made using only oils and the oil-based ingredients are 100% natural and do not require the addition of preservatives. Besides being committed to using natural ingredients and not testing their products on animals, Trilogy believes in ethical sourcing, using environmentally friendly packaging and biodegradable components.
This is described as an intensive repair and conditioning for hands and nails. While I do like that this is a light, non-greasy and fast-absorbing cream that is rather nourishing, the scent just doesn’t impress me because it is nothing like rose to me. But it is still a pleasant scent and the size is good for mobility. The only other gripe is that the price is a bit high for the size and so I’ve got no compelling reason to want to buy this for myself given the tons of cheaper choices I have in the market.
I agree with most of the description for this product that it is a great multi-purpose balm for everything – softening dry elbows, knees, hands, cuticles and even lips. I think it’s a great product to have on your work desk or by your bedside but I don’t agree that this is perfect for travel because the size isn’t what I would classify as convenient to carry around. I also wouldn’t use this on my feet even though it’s recommended because I find this useful for smaller areas; if I use it on my feet, it’ll mean I’ll use this up quite quickly and this isn’t exactly a cheap product. And given that this is a pot, I think it’s unhygienic to dig some of the balm for my feet and then for my lips right? While I think it’s a great product, I can’t find a compelling reason to want to buy this for myself particularly since I know how to make a DIY balm.
Some trilogy products are worth a try if you’re not too price sensitive. I think the Everything Balm is a good start if you like products that are formulated for a number of usage. Plus I’ve read on Makeupalley that it’s great for those with dry skin and that is has also helped someone with a case of bad eczema across her forehead and around her eyes. If you’re in New Zealand and Australia, Trilogy should be easily available to you. Meanwhile, those in Singapore can check out the products at It’s Natural; international shipping is also available at the store but those in other countries can also look up the brand at Lovelula.
