I had mentioned in my review of the ILA Face Oil For Glowing Radiance that I was also trying out another range from the same brand and that’s what I’m going to review today. This range is the Rainforest Renew, consisting of four products formulated with Amazonian plant extracts and Babassu oil that are completely new and interesting ingredients for me.

Going beyond organic
As a quick recap, ILA is a British brand and the name means earth in Sanskrit. Their products are not certified organic but all their products are free from synthetic chemicals and said to be formulated with the finest natural plant and mineral ingredients, wild harvested in remote, untainted regions by artisan producers who value traditional, sustainable practices. According the company, they go beyond organic because great lengths are taken to maintain the unique purity of each ingredient, thus allowing each product to contain greater natural healing energy within.

This day cream is rather light and because it is easily absorbed into the skin, does not leave any greasy residue. The product is made with a blend of Amazonian plant extracts and babassu oil, that are said to help replenish the complexion by improving microcirculation, reducing inflammation and strengthening collagen fibres, which in turn tightens skin cells. While I do like the texture of this cream, but I was not very keen to use it frequently because it does not contain SPF. Although I can use my moisturizing sunscreen over this but again, it’s not something I like to do because it doesn’t make sense for me to use two moisturizers. So no, I won’t purchase this product because it just doesn’t fit into my skincare routine.

Okay, this is a product I both like and dislike. I like that it seems to help even out my skin tone and I no longer need to use so much concealer these days. In fact, this product is described as an intensely regenerating serum ideal as a base layer beneath both the day and night creams. I can use this alone too because the texture is unlike the usual face serum as it is slightly creamier and the formulation supposedly contains a high concentration of Amazonian Elixir and synergistic active ingredients that promote deeper repair to skin cells, fighting the signs of aging. However, this product has worked perfectly with the night cream for me and I’m definitely going to finish using the bottle. The only thing I dislike about this product is that I had to shake the bottle really hard to ensure that the oil is not separated; it actually took me more than a week before I could get the consistency right. So right now, this bottle is permanently at an upside down position to minimize the shaking I have to do.

Initially, I wasn’t exactly sure if this product is really needed, given the consistency of the serum, which I find do help to moisturize my skin too. But okay, I do think those with drier skin type will benefit from using both the serum and this antioxidant night cream, which contains fatty acids from the Marapuama tree to strengthen and restore elasticity. Plus I reckon the improvement to my skin tone is probably because I use both the serum and the cream, given that this product is also said to be able to significantly and visibly enhancing skin tone and texture. With this product though, I don’t need to shake as much as the cream consistency is well…consistent. The only thing is that the white bottle means there is no way for me to know how much of the cream is left but I reckon it’ll last me at about 4 months or so.

I think this eye cream is rather nourishing and it helped improve the look of my eye area initially. In fact, it gave my eye area a warm, tingling sensation the first few times I used the product. However, the results were limited as I don’t see much changes thereafter even though this product is described as being able to reduce puffiness, pigmentation, dark circles and wrinkles. So currently, it’s just a product I use because I haven’t found anything better and it does help to keep my eye area moisturized and not looking worse. But I have to be careful using this product as once, I probably used a tad much and my eyes were terribly irritated afterwards.

Overall summary
Despite some of the gripes, this Rainforest Renew range left a good impression for me and except for the day cream, I actually look forward to using the products in my night routine. The products all have a very subtle oil/butter smell and so that’s something pleasant for me. I’ve also found the range to work well with the ILA Face Oil and that’s a bonus for me because I do love using facial oils. My combination skin is able to accept all the products well but I’m not too sure if the formulations are suitable for oilier skin types as some of the products contain a number of emollients. I would think the range will work pretty well for those with drier or matured skin types that require more nourishing and regenerating ingredients. And for those interested to know, the products are all paraben free and from what I can tell, are using potassium sorbate as the preservative. This is why all products are recommended to be used within six months after opening.
