In conjunction with the Earth Hour last Saturday, Apivita showcased one of its best-selling products, the 100% Natural Wax Candle made with pure essentials oils from its aromatherapy range. I don’t mind candles as many of them smell great but I am not that huge a fan. Well, let’s just say they don’t feature in my shopping list at all. However, I decided to accept the gift of this candle from Apivita as it is said to be able to triple-duty as a hand moisturizer and lip balm.

Fresh and invigorating
First off, I have to say this Apivita 100% Natural Wax Candle with Orange, Cedar wood and Clove pure essential oils smells great even without being burned. Upon burning, the citrus-y scent is truly fresh and invigorating.

Triple usage
This natural candle has over 50 hours of burning time. Including only certified organic cultivations and excluding synthetic ingredients, the candle wax, made from soya and rapeseed, is said to be suitable for use as a hand moisturizer or as a lip balm. Well, after having tried, I’ll say it does work fairly well for the hand and lips but I’m not that keen to use it for those purposes only because I prefer the relaxation benefits derived from burning it as a candle.

Price point
Apivita Natural Candles are available in the following scents: Orange, Cedarwood & Clove, Jasmine, Lavender. It retails at $100 per 235g and $64 per 80g. Definitely not cheap but I suppose they might appeal to those who are fond of burning candles. And the plus point is that this particular candle can be used in different ways for moisturizing. Well, as for me, I’m happy to receive it as a gift but it’s not something I’ll give out my money for.

I’m like you, I love candles and just cannot get enough of them. These look great and completely natural. what more could you ask for. For at least 50hrs! Thanks for this.

I agree, $100 is too much for a candle even though it can be used different ways. I have few candles as I like their smell, but the thing is that I don’t have much occasions to light them.

In the summer 2010 Cat Fancy Natural Cat issue I saved it says, “Essential oils…contain substances that are toxic to cats’ livers, particularly after repeated exposure. …At home, don’t allow your cat to inhale or consume essential oils…Even a short exposure can danage your cats’s liver. In particuar, look out for oregano, thymr, eucalyptus, clove, bay leaf, parsley and cedar leaf essential oils.” Hint for us and our pets. Moreover, a woman from europe once told me they treat eo’s like medicine and know the side effects. Education is so important-I wish our product makers had more.

everything about the product was good until i see the price tag.. my first thought was, “that’s one way to burn my money.” sorry no pun intended ;P

  6. Sesame says:

That’s great! I love their face masks.

  7. Sesame says:

I’m okay with them…don’t love them as much as you do I think.

  8. Sesame says:

Exactly. I only light up candles once in a while.

  9. Sesame says:

Interesting! I’ve read some controversial information regarding essential oils but hadn’t realized they’re toxic for cats. I think it’s best to be careful using the oils. I know that the grade, purity, etc are important considerations. And yes, in France, EOs ae big as medicine.

  10. Sesame says:

    Haha…funny and true. ?

  11. Jennie says:

Yes, I would prefer it too for its lovely citrus scents which make me homesick for Italy! But I am not sure that I would pay a $100 but wouldn’t mind it as a present

  12. Sesame says:

Yeah, nice to receive…not so nice to give. Haha…

  13. Eco Beauty says:

Hubby just stole this candle from me! Haha. He loved the scent so much.
About a week before I received this, he was complaining to me how expensive scented candles and aromatic oils are in Singapore. I need to tell him that this isn’t cheap.

I’m not a fan of scented candles as I feel like I’m burning money. But I don’t want to get the cheap ones because most of them use synthetic fragrance oils. ?

That’s why I don’t buy any. They’re nice to have but not something I really need.
