S-Skin: 6 secret weapons for radiant & silky skin

S-Skin-Beauty-Supplement
Oral beauty supplements are definitely my kind of thing. In fact, they are an integral part of my daily beauty routine. I was taking the AFC Collagen pills and had stopped to try S-Skin for the past three weeks. I realized that this product is readily available at the pharmacies but I had totally missed it. Anyway, I doubt I would have bought it had it not been introduced to me. I mean, there are just so many beauty supplements out in the market now! But I’ve been taking S-Skin for three weeks now and am pretty impressed with what I’m seeing. This is a beauty supplement that not only firms the skin but blocks UV and prevents melanin formation. Hey, that’s exactly what my skin needs!

Okay, I’ll like to clarify that I don’t usually review for advertorials but this is an exception because of the results I’d seen and decided to try it for longer before I write about it. So if you’re interested to know more, read on to find out what I’ve got to say about this product that comes with six secret weapons for radiant and silky skin.

S-Skin-With-Silk-Peptide
Manufactured in USA with six key ingredients
Made in USA, S-Skin is formulated with six key ingredients and that’s why it is promoted as having six secret weapons. Very quickly, here are the ingredients and their key functions:
1. Silk Peptide: provides skin whitening
2. Resveratrol: strengthens skin foundation
3. Aloe Vera: soothes & moisturizes
4. Collagen: firms & maintains elasticity
5. Grape Seed: acts as an antioxidant
6. Alpha Lipoic Acid: promotes cell regeneration

Protects against UV & restraints formation of melanin
Silk peptide found in S-Skin acts as a UV blocker and helps to even out the skin tone by restraining the formation of melanin. In addition, the ingredient is said to be able to promote skin cell regeneration. I don’t know about you but that definitely got my attention because I often wish my AFC collagen pills can do that too.

S-Skin-Silk-Peptide-UV-Protection
Maintains skin firmness and elasticity
The ingredients in S-Skin such as collagen, resveratrol and silk peptides are also able to maintain skin firmness and elasticity. And that’s what keep our skin smooth and firm. In addition, collagen is a key element in the health of joints, cartilage, tendons, bones and all connective human tissue.

Moisturize and hydrates from within
Because of the different ingredients found in S-Skin, taking this supplement also helps the skin to retain hydration, locks moisture and protect its barrier.

Recommended dosage
The recommended dosage for S-Skin is to take two capsules in the day and two in the night before bedtime. So far, I’ve not taken four but tried taking two and three on separate days and I find that three works optimally for me. And I found that taking it at night before bedtime actually gives me more results than taking it in the day so what I do is to take just one in the day and then two in the night before going to bed.

S-Skin-Ingredients
Difference to my skin within the first week
I have to say that there is a slight distinct taste with this supplement. It’s not very strong but you can discern it. Otherwise, they’re easy to swallow. Within the first two days of taking this, I’ve already noticed that my skin looking firmer than before. I also noticed that a hormonal pimple on my chin healed up very speedily during this period. In addition, my skin does not feel as dry as before during the middle of the day. Beyond that, I don’t see any noticeable difference to my skin tone but perhaps I’ll need to take this over a longer period or to take up to 4 capsules to see visible results.

Price and availability
S-Skin is available at the National Health Group Polyclinics, Guardian, Watsons and Unity. Each bottle of S-Skin comes with 90 capsules and cost S$89.90. Since I’m taking three capsules each day, a bottle would last me a month. It’s not exactly costly considering it has both skin firming and sun protection properties, as I had to buy two separate supplements in the past to gain those benefits and they definitely cost me more than S$100 each month. Anyway, if you need more information on the product, check out Health Domain.

A word of caution
I’m likely to continue using this supplement as I have experienced good results with it thus far. I’ll leave you to decide if you wish to try but as with all supplements, please exercise your discretion before taking them especially if you have health issues or you are pregnant. When in doubt, please consult your medical professional.

I am currently taking GreenLife Marine Collagen. I got a 20% off 2 weeks ago when Watsons was having a sales. So far, I have not seen any results taking the product & I believe the product would only last me until next week. I will check out S-Skin when I finished this bottle of Marine Collagen.

just now i drop by Watsons to check it out, and i notice the manufacturing date is quite long 2011? is that common for supplement? normally i only see what the expiry date. just happened that box is quite dusty..

  3. Nikki says:

I’ve been hesitant to try beauty tablet supplements but reading your positive experiences with it may tempt me to try them. Thanks.

  4. Jemma says:

nikki, i have always use supplements, and the bottom line that it works different for each person who takes them, some are taking it good, and some are not so good ?

  5. Sesame says:

If your skin is already quite firm, then the results may be less apparent. ?

  6. Sesame says:

I ran a check with the distributor and this is what they said:
“Yes it is manufactured in 2011 but the manufacturing date will not affect the quality of it. And in terms of the expiry date, it is in November 2014. On top of that, a bottle of S-skin will last about 1 month or so, thus consumers should be assured.

Regarding the dusty packaging as mentioned, I believe is the negligence of the retailers at the outlet that the reader had visited.
But rest assured that Health Domain staff will take note of this comment and do our due diligence by carrying out site visits and reminding the respective store assistants to maintain the image of not only our products but all products being displayed.”

  7. Sesame says:

Not all works though and it’s also dependent on your skin condition. If your skin is already quite good, then chances are, you won’t see much results. Do take note of your own health conditions before trying out supplements too.

  8. Sesame says:

    Agree!

  9. Karen Tan says:

    Thanks for the feedback.

    Have you heard about http://www.skinbiotics.us

  10. jacintha says:

Hi recently I bought a bottle to try even though i must say the manufacturing date was indeed too long ago. I emailed them to ask if they have fresher stocks but they don’t. By the way, I realised that there are one to two small dark brown dots in some of the capsules. Wondering if they are normal? Or did the dots form because of moisture or because it is not fresh?

  11. Kenny says:

I don’t really believe in taking supplements specifically for the skin. The truth is, your skin will look healthy, beautiful and youthful if you eat healthy, exercise and use quality natural skin care products. This doesn’t mean that such supplements don’t really do what they claim.

  12. Kelly Yamauchi says:

    Hello Sesame,

This is an amazing review! I am looking for beauty supplements that are really effective and affordable. I think this is one of them. I will ask my doctor first before taking this beauty supplement. Thank you for sharing! ?

  13. fwy says:

Yup, maybe its true of what you said. I have bought the Otsuka Beauty Jelly in the mango flavour from Watsons for moisturisation & fairness also. So far, the product keeps my skin hydrated even if i do not apply anything on my face but i do not see any improvements in fairness.

  14. Sesame says:

Yes, I wouldn’t mind trying it if only it weren’t so expensive.

  15. Sesame says:

Hmm…sounds like it could be moisture. Where did you store yours? I checked through mine and I don’t have this issue.

  16. Sesame says:

It’s a lifestyle choice. It’s fine if you don’t believe in taking it.

  17. Sesame says:

Great…hope it’ll work well for you if you do try it.

  18. jacintha says:

I store mine in the open on the dining table.. I realised the dots 3 to 4 days after I have opened it.. so I don’t think the dots are due to where I store them..I am not sure if the quality would be affected..

  19. Maria says:

If I stop consuming the supplement, would my skin get worse?

  20. Sesame says:

I’m asking the distributor on your behalf and I’ll let you know what they say.

  21. Sesame says:

Usually with beauty supplements, the effects are good as long as you take them. Your skin shouldn’t get worse but probably revert to how it was before taking the supplement (that’s assuming you’d results). It’s like vitamins or other supplements.

  22. Rachel says:

Great review! I am interested in grapeseed as an ingredient It appears to be very popular as an antioxidant, and is a great natural supplement.

  24. Naoemi says:

Is this safe? I’ve always wanted to try taking supplementary capsules or pills, but I was too afraid that it might cause any side effect on my health. What would you suggest?

  25. Jenny K says:

I don’t know what to make of supplements to get radiant skin. Supplements are scary!
Jenny K last post is: Sensitive Skin

  26. Sesame says:

I believe there are pure grapeseed supplements too.

  27. Sesame says:

Most supplements are pretty safe but because our bodies react differently, it’s hard to say if it’ll work well for everyone.

  28. Sesame says:

Why are they scary? They’re not too much different from your vitamin pills. But of course, whether a person likes to take supplement for their skin is really a personal choice.

  29. Sesame says:

While I’m waiting for their reply, I had another look at more capsules in my bottle and did find a few with very dark spots. But it’s very random and not very obvious. Anyway, I store mine in the fridge.

  30. jacintha says:

There were dark spots on almost every capsules for mine. I think I will start storing them in the fridge as well.

  31. eve low says:

    Hi,
Actually, I’m tempted to try the product recommended but am concerned about the isoflavone as it has potential to affect our hormones. In fact, I remember my gynae telling me to avoid phytoestrogenic element as there’s some link to breast cancer. Hence, I stopped taking Taut, the GNC collagen drink and whitening supplement. This Taut brand also contains isoflavone but I must say it’s the best collagen drink and whitening supplement I have ever tried. The whitening effect is seen in less than 1 hour and the drink makes my skin glow eveness. Unfortunately, I did not continue due to my concern. Sigh …

  32. Sesame says:

I believe isoflavone is also found in soy products and evening primrose oil. So the usage and outcome will depend on individual but as with all things, best to exercise care. I know some women swear by EPO and my usual advice is, if you think you may have hormonal issues or are at an age that can possibly suffer from hormonal imbalance, then it’s best to avoid or to check with doctors/gynae.

  33. Steve says:

Years ago, I suffered with bad acne. When it finally cleared up, I was always concious about my face and how it looked. I came late to supplements as part of a foundation for healthy skincare and will certainly look at trying S-Skin. Many thanks.

  34. Sesame says:

Hope it’ll work well for you if you do try it.

  35. Sesame says:

Okay, I missed the message from the distributor till I checked my email today so sorry for the late reply. This is what their nutritionist said:

“Dark spots in the capsules might due to the storage condition itself. It means that at levels of high humidity condition found in kitchen or other places, essential nutrients can simply dissolve into the air. They are not necessarily unsafe. However, they will decrease the quality and shelf life of the product and decrease the nutrient delivery. Keeping those supplements away from warm, humid environments can help ensure their effectiveness.”

  36. Michelle says:

My skin tends to get dry on occasion so I’ve definitely been in the market for something like this. But at the same time, I worry that it may not work for me and actually make my skin worse! Just not sure about spending $90 on it, especially if it doesn’t work out for me…

  37. jacintha says:

Thanks for the reply.. hmm so it means that there might not be any benefits… wasted my money then..will not repurchase after I have finished my current bottle..

  38. Janelle says:

This formulation certainly looks potent when compared to AFC and other brands. However, perhaps I’m a little sceptical (or ignorant), but doesn’t a reduction in skin melanin lead to less rather than more UV protection? I don’t quite understand how oral supplements can increase uv protection..

  39. Sesame says:

I know what you’re saying but no, a lot of whitening products also work to inhibit skin melanin cos with the production of melanin, the skin darkens.

  40. Alejandra says:

I havent found any scientific information about silk peptide having whitening properties, do you have any?

  41. Sesame says:

If you cannot find, then it is possible that no scientific studies were done on silk peptide or that they were not publicized. That, or any studies done are not readily available online.

  42. Divya says:

I am 25 and have stretch marks problem on body. some are new due to weight loos. Have a bit hormonal problem too……is it safe and good to use at this age as well for skin firming (reduce marks)?

  43. Sesame says:

If you have hormonal problem, then best not to take this.

  44. Joe Daddy says:

All the collection is very nice ! ! !

  45. Divya says:

ok. thank you so much for quick reply. any other suggestions for stretch marks removal? plzzz help.

  46. Sesame says:

    Try almond oil.

  47. Lynn says:

please advise where can i have this product

  48. Sesame Chew says:

    Check out Watsons.

  49. Joseph says:

I trying to look for this s-skin supplement at watson and guardian. And the staffs said they are not selling this supplement anymore. Do u know why.? And where else can i find them.
