Application process takes longer
Inside the pretty packaging is a lip balm that is shaped like an egg. This lip balm glides on my lips smoothly and is rather moisturizing without leaving my lips feeling dry after some time. The shape is a bit of a novelty and a colleague joked that it should be used for the underarms instead of the lips. LOL. Anyway, the bigger surface area compared to the conventional tube lip balms is supposed to make application a breeze. Personally, I don’t find a lot of difference using this over lip balms in tubes. In fact, the unscrewing and screwing on of the cover makes the whole lip balm application process slower. Good thing this is being compensated by the pretty exterior and so I don’t find usage a hassle as yet.

Light scent and taste
I’m currently using the Strawberry Sorbet one and I was rather intrigued with the taste of this lip balm! It tasted like strawberry sorbet and I hadn’t realized that it has a sweet aftertaste until a bit later. Call me dense but I actually took a while to realize that the sweetness didn’t come from my food or drinks.

Availability
The thing that thrilled me about the EOS lip balms is that they’re affordable! I’d imagined that something so fanciful might cost a lot more but no. They are retailing at US$3.29 on the EOS website and are also available at Walgreens, Walmart and Target. I got these from Naturisimo and they retail at £4.99. I’m sure they are available for sale on some websites in Singapore but I don’t know where exactly. But I also understand that there are fake Smooth Sphere Lip Balms in the market and the way to tell is that they come in lousy packaging and has a synthetic smell.

Summary
While I like the EOS Smooth Sphere Lip Balm, I only do because of how cute and pretty the packaging is. In terms of performance, I think it’s okay but not something I would rave about. Still, every lip balm addict should own one of these. They make a good conversational piece, and certainly something nice to whip out from your bag!

  4. Pollya says:

Haha, what struck me is that as the lip balm gets depleted and becomes flatter and flatter, will it be harder and harder to apply? Don’t suppose there is any lip balm WITHIN the bottom half of the egg, is there? – cos then must “scoop out” to apply when reach that stage? ke ke…

Thanks for the tip! Never been to that part of Singapore though…

  6. Sesame says:

They’re moisturizing enough for my lips but perhaps not so great if you have drier lips. Probably not sufficient to use during very cold weather too.

  7. Sesame says:

Haha…too many things to try. Temptations galore… ?

  8. Sesame says:

That’s an interesting thought. I’m curious too! But I think it doesn’t go beyond the bottom half. Probably the lip balm is only on the top half.

    Oh, these are lovely!
I’ve been seeing pictures of them around social networks these last few weeks and I have to say, every girl wants one of these. You put it very correctly in your Summary, these are not the most practical things, but they are just so adorable and incredibly cute!
I will definitely grab a few if I see them around and I am making a mental note to get some for my nephews as well. They will adore them!

Thanks you for posting this, your blog is awesome!
    Stay beautiful!

What when the lip balm becomes flat?

  12. Sesame says:

Hmmm…not sure but I think you should be able to apply most of them till the last bits. Anyway, that happens with the tube lip balms too. There are some bits at the end of the tube that can’t really be applied.
