DIY Beauty: make your own homemade beauty scrub bag

homemade scrub bag
Even though I have a few commercial body scrubs in my stash, I like to use a DIY scrub on some days, mainly out of boredom and wanting some novelty. That or to get rid of some ingredients in the kitchen. Anyway, many ingredients can double up as homemade scrubs but without a binder like yogurt or honey, they disintegrate quickly. So the other day I was making my tea with the disposable tea bags and looking at them, I thought hey, these make perfect scrub bags! I must have been inspired by the Jo Lauren Colloidal Oatmeal Bath Bags!

So what exactly is a scrub bag? Well, a bag for scrubbing! More precisely, a bag containing some goodies to scrub your skin. Because of the somewhat abrasive material, I’ll only recommend this for the body.

Ingredients are based on whatever you can find in your kitchen to exfoliate or scrub. Like what I have is almond flour and sugar. I also had some milk powder and I thought, might as well add in too.

Just dump everything inside the bag, turn it around to cover the bag and you can start using it. To use, just wet the bag (and your skin too) and start scrubbing!

The good thing about putting the ingredients in a bag is that the ingredients don’t disintegrate quickly. There’s no need for a binder and I could scrub longer too without making a big mess.

Because of the ingredients used, my skin felt very soft and supple afterwards. If I can find a bag of softer material, I don’t mind using it on my face too.

hey Sesame. as soon as i saw the title of your post, i thought i could do an oatmeal bag scrub coz its so messy to use otherwise and then i read about the oatmeal bags being already available!! awesome idea, though. i think if we make bags out of thin cotton material also, it should work. will try it!!

Interesting combination of ingredients. I don’t think I have ever attempted to make my own beauty scrub bag. This is something I will have to try out some time – seems really doable. Thanks for sharing ?

Yes, if we can find a thinner and softer material, it’ll be great for a face scrub bag too.

It could still leave a stain cos of the color. My tea rinse leaves my bathroom floor a little brown. ?
