How do you like my new blog design and layout?

DSC03177
Have you ever done something only to regret immediately, wondering what in the world came over you? Well, that just described how I felt when I decided to change my blog design. Given my lack of time to even blog, I seriously wasn’t thinking when I purchased the new theme to install. My only explanation is: I like to surprise myself sometimes. But I certainly hope you have noticed it and are liking it. (#k8SjZc9Dxk_#k8SjZc9Dxk)

I suppose other than acting in a moment of impulse (not folly), I really wanted a theme to accommodate the change in my blogging style especially because I wanted to show off larger images. Speaking of which, I sometimes spend too much time styling and preparing my photos. So each post now takes a much longer time to be ready.

You would think that my blogging efficiency should improve after nearly ten years of blogging but no. If anything, my blogging productivity has decreased. I can hardly put up more than three posts a week. Every weekend, I’ll commit myself to writing for the blog but with just two days and so many things to do, I usually end up over-targeting and underachieving.

Anyway, the point of this entry is to let you know that this new blog design is still a work-in-progress. I am working on improving the navigation and I’m working on the layout of my older posts too. So please be patient with me if you find some things looking wonky here.

I also have a new tagline too–cleaner greener beauty. My focus remains unchanged–I still blog about natural and organic beauty stuff but please understand that I’m no purist and hence, not everything I recommend is 100 percent natural and/or organic.

So there. Do let me know if you have any comments about the layout. Love or hate? Working or not? I like to hear them.

I prefer this design to the old one because the photos are bigger and the whole look seems cleaner ? At the same time, I kind miss the old one, too – but I’m sure I’m just being sentimental because I’ve been visiting your blog for years lol. Being someone who can resonate with not being a “purist”, I also like your new tagline.

I’ve been wanting to revamp my blog for AGES but haven’t gotten the inspiration and time to go about it. A bigger part of me wants to stop blogging about beauty and to start another blog about digital design but I don’t want to be impulsive so I’m just keeping my blog floating. XD

Just a few glitches, maybe – the comment section seems to have an incredibly small text which makes it hard for me to keep track of what I’m typing. I’m not sure whether this happens on mobile because I’m viewing via PC.

honestly speaking Sesame, you are the only blogger I have been following at almost each issue for the last several years and think you are one of the best around. I like the new style of the blog. Wish you continued success with all your hard work. Thanks. paul

hey Sesame. i have been reading since long time but not commenting so much as usual but i also concur with Vivi’s sentiments. i miss the old one even though this design is much cleaner. earlier, it was like you would recognize the blog anywhere but now it takes a bit of getting used to and yes the larger images are a must even though your earlier ones were equally amazing!! and, all the best for more blogging ?

I really think it looks great – I love the spaciousness. You have good, informative posts and the upgrade is perfect backdrop for them.

One comment, (I’m an proofreader, so excuse me), is that cleaner greener would read more correctly as cleaner, greener.

    ?

    Keep up the wonderful work!

  5. Sesame says:

Thanks Louise for your comments. Glad the spaciousness work for you. Yeah, there should be a comma but I deliberately left it out because I had a version with it and I didn’t like how it look so I took it out. ?

  6. Sesame says:

Yes, I think it needs some getting used to. But I definitely like the space for larger images.

  7. Sesame says:

Hi Paul, I’m so flattered by your comments! In fact, I’m so honored to know you’re reading my blog! Wow, make my day! Thank you so much! ?

You miss the old one? Haha…maybe it’s the pink.

Thanks for letting me know about the comments section. I didn’t realize. I know the fonts in the search box is tiny and now I realize the comments text are the same size as that! Okay, got to do some figuring out soon.

I’m loving the new design, cleaner and that alone makes me focus more on the images. I think the text in this comment box can be a little larger though. As a fellow blogger, I myself have just made the move from Blogger to WordPress and a total new layout so I can totally understand the hard work you must’ve been putting into the blog. I spent a whole week perfecting mine, and it’s still not a 100% perfect yet. But I think as bloggers, change is always good and this particular change IMO, is definitely an upgrade!

i like the new clean, look but don’t like it that i can’t page back and forth for the latest entries just after the last one on the front page. i don’t visit daily and i find it hard to catch up on older posts that are not on the front page now! am i missing something?

  11. Sesame says:

This template doesn’t have a page 2…I need to work round a hack but still having issues with it.

  12. Sesame says:

Thanks! Yes, I need to fix the text in the comment box. Until someone told me, I hadn’t realized it’s so tiny. Hope I can get round it soon.

Hello Sesame! It’s been years since I first read your post and have been following you ever since. I think it was about MVOrganics products. I love your minimalistic layout with a touch of floral design to keep it close at heart. Will look forward to your future posts and thank you for being an awesome blogger!

  14. Sesame says:

Thanks for all your support! So glad you’re still reading my blog after all these years. ?

  15. Sesame says:

Hey Stella, I managed to fix the pagination! You can now look up older posts by clicking on the “See More Older Posts”. ?

  16. Sesame says:

Vivi, I fixed the text size and color. They should look better now. ?
