Make Your Hair Look Thick And Full With Cheaper Green Hairstyling Products

Andalou Naturals Marc Anthony Hair Volumizing And Thickening Products
Are you a green beauty enthusiast with fine and limp hair wondering if there is a product that can give you fuller looking hair in an instant? If so, this post will probably interest you.  My hair texture is exactly like yours and for many years, I was using a non-green hair styling product to boost the volume. I like the product but I’ve always wondered if there is a green product that can do the job just as well.  I was under the impression that green hairstyling products are probably inferior in terms of performance given the lack of certain “chemical boosters” but I was SO wrong.

Before proving how wrong I was, let me show you Marc Anthony Hair Thickening Cream—the product I’ve been using for a long time before switching to greener alternatives.

I began using Marc Anthony Full Blow Out Lotion in 2012 and then moved on to using their Hair Thickening Cream. Marc Anthony isn’t a green brand, but this product is said to be made without alcohol and parabens and the brand is against animal testing. Since I’m not a purist, I am well able to tolerable using this product all through these years. That plus the fact that this product is quite affordable at S$16.90 and is well within reach at Watsons.

Marc Anthony Hair Thickening Cream

Marc Anthony actually has an entire collection of products formulated to add volume to fine and limp hair. According to them, their secret lies in their  blend of Hydrolyzed Corn, Soy and Wheat Proteins called Phytokeratin, which penetrates the hair to strengthen and expand each strand while creating intense shine and instant lift for voluminous flowing hair. In addition, their products are infused with vitamin E to promote healthy looking hair with extra body that shines.

For those who don’t care for green alternatives, this is a good product to consider—both the Marc Anthony Hair Thickening Cream and the Marc Anthony Full Blow Out Lotion. Apart from the reasons that this product is both affordable and easily accessible, I like that this product ALWAYS delivers me from having bad hair days. Just apply a small amount on wet hair that has been washed, blow dry and your hair becomes full of volume, soft and manageable. It’s truly a hair savior for those with fine and limp hair!

The only thing I am puzzled about is their ingredients. Although it says no parabens on their packaging, the lists I’ve found online says otherwise. Either the list on the packaging is incomplete or maybe it’s a completely revised list: Water (Aqua), Cetyl Alcohol, PVP, Polyquatermium-55, Polysorbate-20, Styrene VP/Copolymer, Panthenol, Fragrance (Parfum), Propylene Glycol, Cyclotetrasiloxane, Hydrolyzed Corn Protein, Hydrolyzed Soy Protein, Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, Phenoxyethanol, Caprylyl Glycol, Carbomer, Tocopheryl Acetate [Vitamin E], Triethanolamine, Hydrolyzed Silk Protein.

Andalou Naturals Argan Stem Cells Style Creme
Andalou Naturals Style Creme, Thinning Hair Treatment
While I did wonder about green alternatives to the Marc Anthony hair styling product I was using, I wasn’t hunting for them proactively. But I came across lots of them anyway through the social media but most of them are quite costly. Subsequently, I chanced upon Andalou Naturals Style Creme with Argan Fruit Stem Cells and decided to give it a try. Described as a thinning hair treatment product, it sounded like something my hair needs. Also, it’s available for just S$10.59 (US$7.96) at iHerb, much cheaper than Marc Anthony and comes with a more agreeable ingredient list.

If you’ve read my recent post titled 1000 Roses For Best Double Cleansing Experience, you would have come across my introduction of Andalou Naturals products being free of GMO’s, petrochemicals, phthalates, sulfates, synthetic colors, dyes, fragrances, triclosan, PEG, MEA, TEA, DEA, or parabens. The brand isn’t certified organic but uses a minimum of 70 percent ingredients that are, on top of those that are verified gluten-free and vegan. Andalou Naturals also adopts eco-friendly practices and a no animal testing policy.

I’ve to admit that I didn’t really read the description carefully and thought Andalou Naturals Argan Stem Cells Style Creme, Thinning Hair Treatment is a product that can give me voluminous looking hair. Well, it doesn’t quite do that, at least not as well as Marc Anthony Hair Thickening Cream even though it is used in the same way (apply a small amount on wet hair that has been washed and blow dry).

While Andalou Naturals Argan Stem Cells Style Creme does make my hair look fuller, it is more of a treatment product to condition, thicken and restore damaged hair strands. So it works well for those with thin, brittle dry hair that breaks easily. For me, this isn’t the best product for my needs except that it’s color safe and helps nourishes my somewhat dry ends. But I do like that it helps to keep my hair from turning greasy too quickly.

Here’s the full ingredient list: Aloe Barbadensis Juice*, Vegetable Glycerin, Cyamopsis Tetragonolobus (Guar) Gum*, Sodium Alginate (Algin), Octyl Palmitate, Vitis Vinifera (Grape Seed) and Argania Spinosa (Argan) Oils*, Fruit Stem Cells (Argan, Malus Domestica, Solar Vitis) and BioActive 8 Berry Complex*, Vitamin B Complex (Biotin, Thiamine, Pyridoxine, Niacin, Riboflavin, and Panthenol), Glyceryl Stearate, Cetyl Alcohol, Hair Regeneration Complex [Tussilago Farfara (Coltsfoot), Achillea Millefolium (Yarrow), Cinchona Succirubra (Quinine Bark), Cysteine, Glycosaminoglycans, Spiraea Ulmaria (Meadowsweet)], Camellia Sinensis (White Tea) and Hibiscus Sabdariffa Extracts*†, Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Phenethyl Alcohol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Cedrus Atlantica (Cedarwood), Cananga Odorata (Ylang Ylang) and Eugenia Caryophyllus (Clove) Oils*
Non-GMO verified *Organic † Fair Trade

Andalou Naturals Lavender And Biotin Style Spray
Andalou Naturals Full Volume Style Spray Lavender & Biotin
So you can guess that I kinda shrugged off green hair styling products after using Andalou Naturals Argan Stem Cells Style Creme, Thinning Hair Treatment. Never mind it was my fault for not having read the description carefully, I wrote off the product because it didn’t outdo my Marc Anthony Thickening Hair Cream. And I continued with the latter, with the misconception that green hairstyling products just aren’t up to mark.

Then one day, when I was shopping at iHerb, I chanced upon Andalou Naturals Full Volume Style Spray Lavender & Biotin, a product I hadn’t noticed earlier. That was when I realized I’d bought the Andalou Naturals Argan Stem Cells Style Creme in error. What my hair needs is volume and this Full Volume Style Spray Lavender & Biotin is what I should have purchased earlier.

But still, I was skeptical about its performance even though it has garnered 4.5 out of 5 rating from 41 reviewers. In fact, I was so skeptical, I didn’t use the product until maybe a month after it arrived. But when I finally did, I was so astounded by the result—it was an OMG moment when I realized that THIS STUFF WORKS! And you know what? I like it so much better than Marc Anthony Hair Thickening Cream!

First, the ingredient list is so much cleaner. Second, this product smells awesome with its lavender extract. And third, it is so much cheaper at S$10.59 (US$7.96). Need I say more? Oh yes, this is a hair spray that I use after I’ve shampooed and towel-dried my hair. Just spray on, comb through and blow dry. My hair always looks fuller with more volume and shine.

Apparently, this product has more than cosmetic benefits as some users claim that their hair is less oily after usage. Well, I think it helps me there but only to a limited extent. But I do believe the Biotin B-complex helps to improve the strength of my hair strand, at the same time increase manageability for volume and shine.

Here’s the full ingredient list: Aloe Barbadensis Juice*, Hydrolyzed Barley Protein, Glycine Soja (Soy) Protein, Sodium PCA, Lavandula Officinalis (Lavender) Extract*, Vitamin B Complex (Biotin, Thiamine, Pyridoxine, Niacin, Riboflavin, and Panthenol), Fruit Stem Cells (Malus Domestica, Solar Vitis) and BioActive 8 Berry Complex*, Camellia Sinensis (White Tea) and Hibiscus Sabdariffa Extracts *†, Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Phenethyl Alcohol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Lavandula Officinalis (Lavender) Oil*
Non-GMO verified *Organic † Fair Trade

I have never heard of this brand before. The list you found online is probably outdated. I guess they have reformulated their products to remove parabens.

Possibly…either that or they have different formulas for different markets. Unfortunately, their ingredient list is not available on their website.

Hi Sesame..I just purchased the Lavendar+Biotin spray from iherb..but am puzzled..firstly..the nozzle doesn”t really spray mist..I only get drops of liquid coming out..Is it supposed to be like that? Secondly..I see everyone raving about the smell…but mine just smells like lemon-dishwashing detergent kind…is this smell normal? Or is my product spoilt?

  6. Sesame says:

I think the Nozzle is damaged. As for the smell, it is supposed to be lavender and not lemon. Hmm…very strange. You may need to ask for an exchange.
