RMS Beauty Is Uncompromising About Unveiling Healthy, Radiant Skin That Glows

RMS Beauty is rather unusual. Consider the name of its foundation: “Un”Cover-Up or “Un”Powder. Who comes up with names like that? But once you understand RMS Beauty’s philosophy–reviving youthful glow rather than covering and concealing–the names begin to make sense.

Few natural and organic cosmetic brands fare well in terms of performance. To add injury to insult, they are expensive. This is why it took me so long to give RMS Beauty a try, even though I’d read lots of raves about their “Un”Cover-Up.

But having tried it now, I’m sold. Here is a brand that knows how to create products that are safe to use and yet effective, thanks to the founder being a make-up artist who only wants to create healthy and quality products for women.

RMS Beauty is named after Rose-Marie Swift, a make-up artist for some of the most prestigious models, actresses, photographers and magazines.

Years ago, she began to experience severe health problems. In her healing journey, she discovered that the beauty products she was using contained loads of toxic chemicals.

She then created RMS Beauty so that she and other women could enjoy luxurious, high quality products without compromising their health. Nothing very extraordinary considering we’ve read scores of similar stories from other natural/organic brands too.

The difference however is in how Rose-Marie Swift understands cosmetics. It’s not about piling up on blemishes. It’s about unveiling healthy skin.

“It’s about reviving that youthful glow and letting that shine through, rather than covering and concealing with layers of chemicals. Consider it skin care with color.”

Extreme care in treating ingredients
RMS Beauty products are said to be formulated with raw, food grade and organic ingredients in their natural state, allowing their living, healing attributes to penetrate and rejuvenate the skin.

The brand has also taken extreme care in the use of minimal heat in the manufacturing process of their products in order to keep all nutrients and healing properties of their ingredients intact.

All RMS Beauty products are free of harmful chemicals, synthetic preservatives, synthetic vitamins, and genetically altered ingredients (GMO) etc. Although the brand is not certified organic, they source the highest quality ingredients that are unrefined, unbleached and undeodorized.

RMS Beauty “Un”Cover-Up | £28
This is an interesting product that doubles as a concealer as well as a light foundation.

It’s not heavy and doesn’t leave skin looking cakey or dry. Although it yields a subtle, even coverage, don’t expect too much coverage if you have lots of skin blemishes. But it works well to cover up redness and mild imperfections.

Here’s the full ingredient list:
*Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, *Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, *Cera Alba (Beeswax), *Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter, *Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Tocopherol(non-GMO), *Rosmarinus officinalis (Rosemary) Extract, and may contain: [+/- Titanium Dioxide CI 77891, Iron Oxides CI 77492, CI 77491, CI 77499] *organic ingredients

I’ll say RMS Beauty “Un” Cover-Up does a good job of revealing radiant skin, minimizing the appearance of pores. But as you can see, it does not cover up spots very well, not even with more layering.

Nonetheless, I was also impressed to learn that the foundation/concealer comes in seven shades:

000: Our lightest shade for the true snow whites.
00: A light shade for fair skin.
11: A pale shade with a subtle yellow base.
22: A yellow base shade great light-medium skin tones.
33: A slightly warm tan color.
44: A darker tan color, which can also be used for creating a tanned effect or for contouring if desired.
55: Warm golden tan.

The shade I use is 00 and I found it easiest to apply by patting in the cream with my fingers. I’ve tried using a brush as well as a makeup sponge but they don’t work that ideally for me.

RMS Beauty Living Luminizer | £30
This one-shade ultra sheer, glowing, luminizer with a translucent, satin-pearl finish creates healthy, sheer glowing skin by enhancing the user’s own natural beauty, without being sticky, greasy or glittery. No wonder it’s a bestseller.

It has many uses:

  • apply sparingly with fingers over the cheekbones, down the bridge of the nose.
  • apply along the inner corners of eyes, and on the cupid’s bow above lips for a natural glow.
  • added along shoulders, shoulder blades and collar bones for a sexy evening look.
  • combine with the Lip2Cheek for a more sensual, shimmery mouth.

Personally, I find this works best with “Un”Cover-Up to give my skin a radiant sheen. But I think Living Luminizer is best for those with dry and dull skin. Those with oily skin may find it hard to differentiate the shimmer from the shine of oil.

Here’s the full ingredient list:
*Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, *Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, *Cera Alba (Beeswax), Tocopherol (non-GMO), *Rosmarinus officinalis (Rosemary) Extract, and may contain [+/- Titanium Dioxide CI77891, Mica CI 77019] * certified organic

RMS “Un”Powder | £28
This ultra fine, light reflective powder is supposed to work synergistically with RMS Beauty “Un”Cover-Up to create a silky second skin. Although it is white, it suits every skin tone as it leaves no white residue.

Ingredient wise, RMS “Un”Powder contains only silica and mica and is talc free, silicone free, perfume free and paraben free.

I wish I can say I love this powder as it does minimize the look of my pores and help absorb oil. However, the powder is so fine that I have to hold my breath so as to minimize inhaling the powder each time I apply.

Still, my nose gets irritated whether I apply this with the accompanying powder puff or a face brush (the latter works better for me). I suppose this powder isn’t suitable for those with ultra-sensitive nose like mine as it seems to work well for others based on comments I’ve read.

Summary
RMS Beauty is available in various countries in Asia Pacific–Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, Thailand, and New Zealand (check their website). I got mine from LoveLula. Prices don’t come cheap but their products are of high quality.

However, RMS Beauty are best used on skin with less blemishes. If you have fairly good skin, you’ll likely love RMS Beauty cosmetics for their skin-enhancing benefits. If yours is acne-prone or full of pigmentation, you’ll probably not enjoy using these products I’d just reviewed.

For me, I’m likely to repurchase the RMS Beauty “Un”Cover-up as I like how my skin looks using this. I suppose I can live without their Living Luminizer and certainly their “Un”Powder.

Anyone tried RMS Beauty and loving it? Which is your favorite?

I agree the product name are a bit confusing but it’s nice to know so much care goes into the production of their products. I like the concept of enhancing rather than covering up and I can see how if you just want a nice glow this would be the right brand for you.
