Little sleep leads to weight gain

OMG!  I just read this article and think that my recent weight gain may have something to do with my lack of sleep. 

As millions of Americans move through life weary and sleep-deprived, scientists are uncovering more and more evidence that insufficient slumber may cause hormonal shifts that boost both hunger and appetite, particularly for fat-laden carb catastrophes like jelly-filled donuts and super-sized fries.

What’s in a good sunblock?

For those of us who live in the tropical region, sunblock is a necessity.  But do we really know if the one we’re wearing is effective? 

First, you might like to know that sunblock is actually different from sunscreen.  A sunblock physically blocks the sun’s UV radiation of the skin, both UVA and UVB.  Like the way clothes, umbrella and trees work to shade us. 

The most well-known chemical sunblock is zinc oxide and it scatters, reflects, and physically blocks UV radiation.  Other commonly used sunblocks are talc, titanium dioxide, and red vetenary petrolatum.  

Stylish bob haircut

I’m now sporting a short bob haircut, which my hairstylist said is in vogue.  Especially the signature Vidal Sassoon bob of the 1960s.  Mine isn’t that retro of course.  It’s a graduated layered bob just over the ears.  No, not at all like Victoria Beckham’s Pob if that’s what you’re thinking.  Much more classic than that.  And no bangs, just the fringe swept to the side.

Threadlift: A mini facelift

Have you heard of threadlift?  If you do a search on the Net, you’ll probably read about it as being a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure that is a low-risk and low-cost alternative to the facelift.  It is relatively new, and is already available in Singapore.  In fact, one of my colleagues had hers done earlier this year and I’m going to share with you about her experience.
