Tips to share: how to choose the right hair brush

A reader’s comment on my entry about cleaning hair brushes last week got me thinking about the different types of hair brushes available and the difference among them. To be frank, I have never thought much about hair brushes and am not exactly very knowledgeable or adventurous with trying new ones. But after doing some research, I found that there are indeed hair brushes that are designed for specific hair types and today, we’ll take a look at some of these hair brushes.

Tips to share: how to keep your hair brush clean

My hair has been long for as far as I can remember. And because of that, I prefer using hair brushes to combs as they remove tangles without tugging my hair too much. Now, this might sound really disgusting to you but I have only begun cleaning my hair brushes a couple of years ago. I didn’t clean them previously not because I am a disgusting and unhygienic woman, but because I had no idea we were supposed to clean them. So I’ve always just replaced my hair brushes with new ones whenever they looked old and dirty.

Review: Organix Cherry Blossom Ginseng Shampoo

This is one of those brands that I’ve avoided purchasing for the longest time because of the name. Why? Because I’m always suspicious of brands that call themselves Organic, Organics, or anything that sounds close. Come on now, there is not one organic ingredient in the product and this is a typical example of greenwashing. So why did I purchase this then? Well, I’ve had people coming to tell me that this is a good organic shampoo and I feel that some clarifications is required. At S$12.90 after sale, I thought I’ll give it a go just to see if it lives up to its claims, given that I’ve already taken the Organix Hydrating Teatree Mint for a couple of washes last year and it was not bad in terms of performance.

Intelligent Nutrients Harmonic hair products

I noticed a collection of unused shampoos and conditioners hidden in a box while clearing some items in my room recently. They were part of a review project I worked on last year and I never got round to finishing them up, mostly because they either do not suit me so well or because I’ve moved on to try other things. Anyway, of the lot, the Intelligent Nutrients Harmonic set is most interesting as it is made with non-toxic chemistry, and its unique selling point is being gluten free. And boy, after a year, they’re still usable!
