Organic alcohol denat in organic skin care?

I was pretty riled up when I read ParisB’s post about Kiehl’s Acai Berry Organic Skincare being available in Malaysia because I spotted alcohol denat as one of the ingredients in the range.  In both its Acai Damage-Protecting Toning Mist and Acai Damage-Minimizing Cleanser, the ingredient is fourth on the list! It’s listed as an ingredient from organic farming but I’m not so convinced it needs to be so high up in the ingredient list, especially in an organic range that is certified under ECOCERT and said to be of 100% natural origin.

Do our skin absorb what we use easily?

I’ve just started using a herbal cream and am quite amazed at the speed of its effects on stabilizing my moods. It’s very easy to use and all I need to do is to apply it to certain areas of my body, such as my underarms, inner thighs, neck, and abdomen. Whilst this product is specially designed for skin delivery, but I couldn’t help but wonder how easy it is for our skin to absorb what we apply on it.

Why can’t organic skin care be alcohol-free?

I have a major gripe!  Over the weekend, I was looking to get a milk cleanser and checked those new organic brands at Watsons.  All of them contain alcohol and some had the ingredient listed second on the list!  This really bothers me and it doesn’t matter if they use plant-based alcohol or that the ingredient is certified as organic.  Why can’t organic and natural skin care products be alcohol-free?

Have you seen some of the recent beauty ads which promise to reverse aging by as much as 15 years? I thought it was too incredulous especially since a dermatologist who gave a talk at a workshop I attended mentioned that 5 years is more realistic. But, I agree that it is possible to regain some level of youthfulness; it just depends on what you use, and how you use the products.
