The highlights on mineral makeup

mineral makeup

If you haven’t already heard, using mineral makeup is one of the newest trends and many dermatologists,  skincare experts and leading esthetician schools have been recommending such natural cosmetics from foundations, eye shadows to lipsticks.

Jane Iredale and Bare Escentuals i.d. bareMinerals are two of the more well-known mineral makeups out there. But there are many others, including some established brand names like Urban Decay and L’Oreal that have added mineral makeup to their product lists.

Yellow-based foundation for Asian

Many years ago, I committed the error of buying a foundation of pink undertone thinking that it would complement my skin colour.  Lucky I was able to realise rather quickly that it didn’t suit me as it made my face look highly unnatural.

These days, I find yellow-based foundation more suitable as this shade makes my face look more natural.  I also have more choices now, compared to previously.  Thanks to more yellow-based foundations from renowned brands like Mac and Bobbi Brown who understand that Asian skin tends to have more yellow undertones.

Fyrinnae vegan eye shadow

While I don’t wear eye makeup that frequently, I still like to experiment with colours.  It’s just that I’ve been limited by the depth of my pocket to test out the gamut of colours under so many brands.  However, since chancing upon Fyrinnae, my eyes have been opened real wide.

Fyrinnae is quite possibly, the holy grail of eye shadow.

Imagine.  Over 160 shades of eye shadows in any imaginable shades, tones and finishes and still adding more every month.  Very. Hard. To. Resist.

La Colline Velvet Touch 2-Way Cake

This La Colline Velvet Touch Two Way Cake Foundation really lives up to its name, giving me a complexion that looks incredibly velvety and radiant.  I’m into my second and I have to say I’m rather happy with it.

It was however not the case initially when I started using it.  My face actually appeared cakey and splotchy after application and I was vastly disappointed because I was hoping that it would do better than the Estee Lauder’s Cyber White 2-way cake I was using earlier.  So out of frustration, I switched to Stila’s Angel Light Whitening Powder Foundation and was more or less happy with the latter.
