Clarins Hydra-Luminous Powder Foundation

I don’t know if you’ve noticed but I hardly review products from the usual big department store brands. So I guess some of you may find it a surprise that I’m reviewing the new Hydra-Luminous Flawless Powder Foundation SPF 20 – PA ++ from Clarins today. Well, I was using the Shiseido powder foundation and I was curious how this new product will measure up because it is said to be a high-performance formula with a concentrate of plant essences specially designed for Asian women to provide a moist and 3D Radiance effect with long lasting comfort.

What’s the difference with organic makeup?

Just the other day, I came across a comment left by a reader that she found little difference between organic makeup and the usual makeup. I had agreed with her partially because I have come across some with ingredients that didn’t seem that much different. However, if we look at the more established organic makeup brands that are certified, there is a noticeable difference. So today, I thought I’ll put up some comparison between organic makeup, mineral makeup and the usual conventional makeup. For this purpose, I’m going to compare one product and that is the face powder.

Makeup mess: bag organizer to the rescue

Guess what? After I posted about my little tote bag organizer, it struck me that I can use another one to organize my daily makeup items. I do my makeup in the toilet and have been storing the items in a cosmetic pouch. However, the cosmetic pouch has limited space and it was increasingly difficult for me to find my brushes or concealer. A bag organizer would be useful with the different storage pockets and the little handles mean I can carry it around without much hassle.

What happened to the rage in mineral makeup?

Mineral makeup was all the rage about two to three years ago. Almost every other week, a new indie brand was launched, touting the benefits of the natural makeup. Even the big boys came out with their own versions. But the rage seems to have died down quite a bit isn’t it? Apart from the established brands, I no longer see that many mineral foundation or mineral eyeshadows being introduced. And that prompted me to ask, what’s with mineral makeup these days and are women still using it? Well, I am sure there is still a market for the product but I have no idea if that many women are still using mineral makeup. Perhaps let me tell you about my status since I was using mineral makeup consistently for around two years since 2007.
