DIY Beauty: cucumber to brighten skin

I am loving cucumbers for my skin! It has such a wonderful cooling and soothing effect. Definitely great to be used in our hot weather.

Cucumber (Cucumis Sativus) extract is widely known for its astringent and soothing effects, on top of its anti-inflammatory actions and skin tightening properties. I’ve been using it for the past two weeks in the hope of tightening the pores on my face. My skin does feel tight when the juice dries on my face but I haven’t seen any noticeable reduction of my pore size though. I suppose I need to be more patient since it has only been two weeks. But I did notice a slight brightening effect on my face instead.

DIY Beauty: baking soda to whiten your teeth

I’m getting hooked on DIY beauty! Because it’s fun, it’s healthy and it’s cheap! Here’s my experience with using baking soda to whiten my teeth. It works! Okay, don’t expect the sort of sparkling white teeth you see on celebrities but baking soda will take off some of the coffee and tea stains and give you a cleaner looking set of teeth.

Sometime ago when I was reading up about sunscreens, I learnt that there are some folks who would rather make their own sunscreens.  I was both surprised and intrigued by the idea.  So when Leon started her new beauty forum on organic and natural skincare at Glowing Diva, I immediately raised this topic and this is the natural homemade sunscreen recipe that Leon shared with me:
