Foundation to match skin undertone

Skin undertone for foundation

Although choosing the right foundation for our face is no rocket science, it can still get quite tricky.  While we always strive to pick the shade closest to our skintone, it is not always easy to do so and the wrong shade can make us look completely faded, muddy or ashy.

Like for me, I only realised recently that I not only have to pick the right color for my complexion, but also be able to identify my correct skin undertone and choose the right shade to match it.

L’Occitane Brightening Polish

L'Occitane Immortelle Brightening PolishDespite the name, you don’t actually have to do any polishing whatsoever with L’Occitane Immortelle Harvest Brightening Polish.

This is a thick, clear gentle gel mask with absolutely no abrasive particles that exfoliates, brightens and purifies all in one go.  I love how easy this brightening polish works. Just cleanse and dry my face, leave this on for between 5 and 10 mins, then rinse off and my skin immediately feels more tightened, refreshed and brightened.

Alima Satin Matte Mineral Foundation

Alima Mineral Makeup

I would like to say that the Alima Satin Matte Mineral Foundation is a good product.  However, it doesn’t work well for my skin tone and I don’t like the way I look with this foundation.

YSL Touche Eclat Radiant Touch

YSL Touche Eclat

The Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat Radiant Touch is dubbed the magic pen brush.  I wouldn’t quite say it is that.  Instead the word I would use to describe it is functional.

In terms of concealing power, this pen brush isn’t exceptional.  It only made my dark undereye circle less noticeable, not cover it totally.  But then, this isn’t a concealer.  So rightfully, it shouldn’t be expected to conceal.  Instead, this is a take-anywhere instant highlighter for adding a touch of light or banishing shadows and signs of fatigue from the eye area, and anywhere else on the face.
